announcing at shows that hard????
announcing at shows that hard????
this pic is for anyone who says announcing in front of 5,000 people at a dragstrip is hard
http://www.outonparolepics.com/vario...Houston?full=1
take 5,000 and add a zero then subtract your fears and holla back
the one difference between a dragstrip or an AMA race is that all of those people are spread out everywhere
get your *** in a stadium and they are all staring at you 24/7
there is no excuse
but dont get it twisted now, let me say this also, for those of you who can, or think you can, announce for a "show" thats all cool, 1 or 2 teams, 15 minutes at a time, yeah you are the ****...
but then announce all day 2 or 3 days in a row for 200 riders who all have different styles, bikes, teams, locations, tricks, whatever.... I can do it, can you? that is the difference
the point is that you all need to stop all the *****ing on SL about the announcing and do something about it, even if it just means sending an email or 2, we all know what shows are coming up this year, email them...honestly, im just tired of hearing about it, however personally entertaining it may be to me in some dark closet deep inside me....

Re: announcing at shows that hard????
I wonder what would happen if you started spitting out words like b!tch, *****, ****, a$$, etc etc. at an event like that in front of all those people.
I feel bad for the people that brought children to see the events sunday at Stuntwars.

I dont know Thomas to a personal level. But i have hung out for a bit around him two different ocassions. On the Business side, I think that he did an awesome job on California's event last year. In my eyes, He knows how to promote. At least I havent seen anyone better!!! Then Again I havent been to too many big events to compare it to anyone elses work! If OM were to hold a competition here in NM or anywhere in the US. I would talk to Ernie to see if we could get Thomas out there for Promoting!!!
I would love too see Thomas Promote SW next Year when we are there!

Announcing is a must. Ive heard the announcer for Tommy Clowers and homeboy w/ RedBull, FMX, he gets the job done and hypes the crowd. Lets you know what the heck you just saw!
Patrick had a pretty good announcer when I saw Pat and P.O.B. at a show. He goes into detail about endos and informs your audience! A++
It's the one thing my team lacks. We do car shows in SA, we have 2 lined up for March, and finding an announcer is our main focus right now. You need someone to tell the crowd *what* you are doing, and how *difficult* your trick is. Otherwise its just kaos!
I'd expect the announcer at an event w/ 200+ riders to be ON POINT! The other riders who cant see a run need to know whats being pulled. You need the 411 so you can adjust. This is a sport, in sports you need to be up to date to compete. Its an advantage for everyone to be informed and an announcer does that.

i have to say that thomas knows his stuff. not only can he give you background on each individual rider he knows each one by name and team. never heard anyone rock the mic better.
