Re: Learn On 50 First?
For your size a 70 or higher might be better. For me, the 50 gave me tons of confidence with the rear brake. Which is a good thing when trying to learn BP.
If I could do it over again, I would borrow a friends 50 and practice for a week. Learn to slow the wheelie down in 1st through 3rd then start slowly practicing with the big bike. If you have $500-1000 laying around then get a 50. There great fun too!!
Except for the fiddy *** the first few weeks
Even after many hours on the 50 and being able to rock em for blocks, it was still back to the drawing board once I started pulling em up high on the big bike. The main thing was having confidence in that rear BRAKE!!

Re: Learn On 50 First?
the 50 will help with brake controll and get you use to the feeling of balance point and throttle control. but when you go to try it on the big bike the thing that will change is where the balance piont is. the 50 is a greatr tool and a very fun toy. you wont be sorry if you buy one. and if you dont like it some one is always willing to buy it.

Absolutely. The 50 is worth it even if you aren't trying to learn wheelies for a big bike.

Re: Learn On 50 First?
I saw Mike Smith (B.Smith's bro) doing pretty good, better than I thought he would on his GSXR750 like his 3rd-4th time riding it. was doin slow stuff, nothing special, but done with some skill, and from what I know has rarely to never messed with street stuntin before, but he kills a 50 all the time, it worked good for him, so it might work for you too

Re: Learn On 50 First?
i hope it dose. what sucks is i never had dirtbike or somthing as kid to have practiced wheelies back in day like alot of you guys. my 600 was the first bike i had with a engine in it. so im going with no skill whatso ever trying to learn slow wheelies. WTF . isint it normally like, lil dirt bike , learn powers/cluctch. then a street bike powers/ then clutch isnt that how it works??? well normally i meen. im skiping the first 3 steps of the chain. so i have no doubt in my mind it will help with confedince do anyone agree with me thats how the chain eveolves for the normal stunta?
reapeted chain- time line-----------> young--->old
(dirt bike) learn power or clutch ups, dont matter. then after a lil bit you get a 600 or so street bike and do power ups then graduate to clutch? so buy the time your doing what im trying to do you have atleast a year of experiance "riding" wheelies at BP or a lil off

Re: Learn On 50 First?
I went straight to a CBR600F4 and started wheelieing with having no prior skill on a dirtbike of any kind. After i learned to wheelie decent on my streetbike ,i got a fiddy just to have fun on and practice. Believe it or not, the 50 helped with my stunting on my "big bike". But generally you definitely want to start with powering it up rather than using the clutch, especially if you havent clutched a dirtbike up before. It could be done w/o riding a dirtbike for sure, but to skip the powering ups and the dirtbike it might be sketchy.
