I'm trying to hit bp on my bike but I'm having a difficult time with my mind messing with me. I've looped 2 wheelies earlier this summer. I guess I'm nervous to loop again. I can ride them out to redline in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but if I get too high I get scared and cut back on the throttle. I'm also riding with injuries from my two previous accidents so I really don't want to hurt myself anymore. I have no rear brake control so I guess that's one of the reasons I fear looping again. Anyone have troubles nailing a trick or hitting bp because of a brain trip?
Re: Mind f**k!!
**** bro...I flipped an endoe a year ago, and I can barely pop a power wheelie right now. Granted I've only really been trying for a week...but still. I used to do decent wheelies and all that good stuff, but after my brother being seriously hurt/almost losing his leg, then me crashing out and getting dragged down the road by my bike...yeah, I'm skeered. It's starting to **** me off too. I just can't seem to stop thinking about crashing whenever I get ready to do a wheelie. And to make matters worse (in a good way), my buddy on here and in the real world, Atreyu1983, is just starting to stunt. That dude is getting better and better at wheelies, and now has added stoppies to his list. Meanwhile, here I am, still nothing.
Oh yeah...and it keeps raining, so I can't get any practice time in right now. Believe me, I feel your frustration. It's almost embarassing for me.

Re: Mind f**k!!
after a serious crash/injury you need to slowly get back into it. You need to build your confidence back up! I don't know what kind of shi7 you want to learn but I can tell you this...YOU DEF NEED TO LEARN THE REAR BRAKE!!! so everytime the front comes up, you'll have that in the back of your head

Re: Mind f**k!!
hey man, try to learn throttle controll...if u cant controll the throttle dont bother going that high. just try to keep the bike as steady as possible while in the air. once u figure out how to use slight adjustments to the throttle to stay the same height, then try to go a little higher....think about it, if ur constantly going up and down in a power wheelie(which doesnt require precise throttle movement) what do you think is gonna happen if u are a bp.. (the bike will move like a rocking chair, up and down) and u'll prolly go past bp so fast u wont be able to catch it with the brake.
once u can control the wheelie then try to go a little higher..and COVER THE BRAKE ! just take ur time and try to be steady with the gas

Re: Mind f**k!!
yea just take your time..and never compare your progress to someone elses progress. in this sport some people learn things fast and some don't. i myself rather take two months to learn how to do a trick with baby steps, instead of trying to take one big step, in one day and then crash, then be out for 3 months. but that's just my thinking. pratice, pratice, pratice is the best way for your mind to get over the fear.
Re: Mind f**k!!
Good input on this thread! Quads and 50's are great for learning brake controll. 50's are harder to wheelie then a big bike if you can learn brake controll on one of those your all set, as Ill shane had said. Bikerboy said take your time learn at your rate, practise practise practise!! Best advise yet!!!
Re: Mind f**k!!
hell yeah - like schwartz said - ridin the 50 hard this year doubled my skills...
If you can't get over your fears on a big bike get a 50 it hurts a lot less to crash them - and it's cheaper, then move back to the big bike when you get a good skill base developed
Riding with others always helps too - someone elses advice that can see what you are doing is a bonus...

Re: Mind
I've been riding a 50 for about 1 month. I can wheelie for blocks on that thing and learned alot about rear brake. My F4i wheelies are better but still chasing BP. What's been helping me in 1st (sitdown) is to keep pressure on the rear brake, slow it down to about 10mph, clutch the bike up, ALL THE WHILE KEEPING MY FOOT ON THE REAR BRAKE WITH LIGHT PRESSURE, then modulate the throttle AND BRAKE has I get higher and higher. From my experience, If I don't constantly think about modulating the rear brake as the bike comes up then I will forget completey about it and only use throttle control. I need to get higher since Im only looking at my gauges when wheeling. I can see a slight drop in rev's but not much. I must be right below BP.
Good Luck

Re: Mind
Thanks for all the advice guys. I am taking baby steps compared to me rushing things in the past. I got throttle control down pretty good because when I clutch the wheelie up I usually bring it up to 10 o clock. From there I keep the throttle steady and can ride it out to redline. It's just bringing it higher to hit bp that makes me nervous. I want to get a fiddy real bad but I don't have the money. Seems they helped out a lot of people with rear brake control. I also witnessed two loops not to long ago. Both happened on seperate occasions but I was riding right next to both of these guys when it happened and that kind of messed with my mind. I think the biggest thing that bothers me is getting hurt again. I got hurt real bad on my first crash - broken left wrist, torn muscles in my right shoulder, hole in my right knee down to the bone, and lots of road rash. Still doing therapy everyday on my left wrist. Was out for a over a month. I don't wannt to go through that pain again but then again that's the life of a stunt rider huh!! Anyways I'm gonna take all of your advice to heart and grab my nuts and keep practicing.
Re: Mind
During my wreck I mentioned above, my right passenger peg dug into my leg behind my right shin, the bike pinned my leg to the edge of a curb, and I basically slid with my bike dragging me by my right leg. I ground my shin bone down...got some serious rash...basically it sucked. I'm def. afraid of that **** happening again. I am taking it slow though, working at MY pace and no one elses.
Still...it bothers me that I get nervous when I didn't before.
