ICE STUNT Competition? (PHOTO ATTACHED)
In need of input... If we were to hold & promote stunt competition events on ice in southern Wisconsin, would there be enough interest from enough people willing to set-up equipment for these events? Serious! See attached photo from a demo at Sunset Tavern Saturday Night Ice Races in Jan. 04' Photo attachment of Miltown Whellie Boyz equipped with Kold Kutter Ice Screws... Post input please. Thanks. Tom at Sunset Tavern (920) 563-5702.

Things gotta start somewhere...
Yep... gotta crawl before you can walk!
When the interest comes... the $$$ will come. I guess it just boils down to how many riders can afford the initial set-up costs / and how much time is somone willing to spend for three or four winter events. If we get successful events off the ground, I can promise everyone here that copycat events will soon startup throughout the north. Thanks... Keep the input coming. -Tom.

depends on the cost of the studs: we had 1000 studs in each tire for that with a old tire cut down on th inside of some of them and slimmed them too
so 2000 studs about : $150- $200
old tires: free
your time of putting studs in : priceless

Teamsunset: Hey Tom, a few of us plan on coming out by you again this winter. Darrin and I for sure,
We did it for two days last winter, First day was awesome just had to watchout for the snowbanks, temp was 20-30 degrees..
second day sucked too cold, like 5 degrees out.

Tips for people planning on studding:
Cold cutter screws, lots of them, we placed about 800 in each tire, the more the better. We tried about 4-500 at first but it didnt get enough traction.
You want to position the screws so that the notch is horizantal to the ground.
Front tire: we screwed the screws in while the tire was still on the rim, and had all of its air in. No liner needed, didnt leak any air, and didnt loose a single screw during the two days.
Back tire: We didnt use any liner (although you can if you want), never lost any screws either. Although the back tires leaked alot, just kept adding air, I would recommend sliming the tire before mounting it on the rim.
I only crashed once, and it actually didn't hurt at all (30mph)
If you can wheely on wet pavement, then you can on the ice, less gas, more pull, and sprockets help a hell of a lot.

So we're looking at:
$150 set-up cost for tires, per bike
$20-$25 entery fee, per rider
Hotel
Gas
YEAH..........no
It sounds like fun though, anyway to get the dealer to sponcer the tires?

Kold cutters, post up some advice on studding sportbike tires as well as xr50 tires. People want to know the best stud orientation, how to install, how many, what length, and everything else. Give us a lesson.

Jesse nailed it on the head with how to position them but the liner help out a ton. We studded up 4 sets averaging 1000- 1500 studs per tire. The front tires were new or almost new and held air very well. The rear tires with out liners sucked. They didn't hold air at all or not for very long. We ran only about 10-20 psi. The liner also helped stiffin up the tire to keep the tire roll of to each side to a min.
