Re: summer crash stories

Prepare for the agony.

1) Right after I finished building my Yzf600R, I was out riding with the MSSR guys in Memphis. We were all pulling around what I thought was an s-curve which actually turned out to be a decreasing radius curve with a dirt road coming off of it. We were going about 80 mph through the curve. By the end of it I had two broken ribs, plenty of bruised internal organs, a damaged spleen, a blown knee, a dislocated sholder, and a broken finger. I rode my bike back to my house, then went to the hospital.

2) I was coming home on my Bandit one night and I felt like doing a little highspeed simple stuff since no one was around. It was like 3 am. So there I am riding side saddle, with my helmet off, smoking a cigarette, in polyester pants and a t-shirt. A cop that was hiding behind a sign pulled out in front of me. It won me a cracked ankle, a little rash on my cheek, a split eyebrow, broken wrist, and skinned up knees. Oh and I got a ticket.

3) I was down in ATL helping my friend put a new front end on his 636. When we were done I took it for a test ride through the neighborhood. I got about 60 feet, a truck ran a stop sign and came out in front of me, I slammed into it and flew over the hood, and it crushed the brand new front end we just finished putting on. Other than a little scrape or two, all the was hurt was our feelings.

4) I was practicing a one wheel highchair spredder on my raptor and went off a drop off sholder next to the road. The quad rolled over me when we finally hit the ground after a fall of about 8 feet. I screwed my back. Other than that I just had some scrapes.

5) I was up at LBL on the quad shooting up a crazy *** steep hill. When I got to the top, I met the guy that was getting ready to go down it. We both made the trip. I broke a couple of fingers, dislocated a sholder, screwed up a knee, etc.

Everyone that knows me knows that it's not uncommon for me to have these rediculously nasty crashes. I've done everything from bounce down a mountain in north georgia holding onto a MX bike to just getting mowed down by an old lady in a caprice in the RiteAid parking lot. I get fuct up all the time. I have a ton more stories from this summer but I won't tell them all.

Thanks for the support guys. All my friends think I'm nuts. I'll be on bikes and quads until I die. It's part of my soul. You guys know what I'm talking about. You just got to grind your teeth and accept the reality of what we do.

I heard of a story where guy was doing 12's and pancaked his bike. Peg went through his ankle.

Re: summer crash stories

I looped my gsxr-1000 twice this summer. First time was at about 80mph doing a sit down wheelie. The bike came up too high from a power wheelie and I lost control. I tore all the muscles in my right shoulder, broke my left wrist, and had a hole in my right knee down to the bone. Plus a bunch of road rash. I got a bunch of pins and screws and a metal plate in my wrist and my shoulder is still *****ed up today. I was posted on the couch for a month. After that I started riding again and maybe a few weeks later I looped my bike again doing a sit down power wheelie at about 40mph. I had a brace on my left wrist from my first accident and I came up too high and I lost grip of my bike and I'm trying to hold on by the throttle only and that made it loop. I was only wearing shorts and a tank top. Got some nasty road rash all over my body and a sprained right wrist. Road rash is all cleared up but my wrist still hurts like hell. Road rash is extremely painful when trying to sleep, take a shower, or move around in general. Now I always wear the gear and clutch my wheelies. Haven't had problems since.

definition of a squid lol no offence but damn.... looped 2 power wheelies, now you know the lesson of why power wheelies are dangerous and garbage.

What the hell makes some sport bike riders (ones that usually are on one to "look cool") wear shorts tanktops, sandles, no helmet, no gloves. It makes no sence whatever its not your freakin bicycle.

Yeah I know it was stupid. I didn't know anything about stunting when I first got into the game so I talked to some people around here and everybody does power wheelies. I **** you not!! I ride with a couple of different groups out here and when it comes to wheelies everybody's doing them that way. So i tried doing the same thing. I had no problems on my gsx-r 600. I only rode that for a little bit though before I bought my 1000 and that's a diffrent beast altogether. I don't have throttle control down yet but clutching is working better for me. I haven't looped yet. So I learned my lessons the hard way and I clutch my wheelies now and always wear the gear no matter what!! I wish I would have gotten onto this site along time ago and got better advice when I first started out. Oh well!! Ride or die!!

Re: summer crash stories

Thats all that counts man, you learned from your mistakes. I thankfully had a friend of mine that had been reading this forum for along time tell me how to wheelie (but i already assumed droppin the clutch was the way) but ever since i have bought my bike ive been on this forum reading what to do and what not to do. Power wheelies = what not to do. haha.

Now you'll be showing up your boys out there with the right way to do a wheelie. Maybe they will catch on.

Re: summer crash stories

Didnt crash this summer. But had my front tire lock up a couple of times doing rolling burnout....NOT COOL. Also, wrecked my little bro's fitty a few times while me and him were riding wheelies.
How do you load a picture into a thread?

Re: summer crash stories

Early summer: Weak *** 'stoplight stoppie' some back road, when I went to put my foot down and I realized my baggy pant leg was hooped around the rear-set, so it kept tipping...then turned into a 1, 2, 3, JUMP off the bike. extended frame slider = no real damage.

Later Summer: Second night out with new gearing. Practiced for 45min, was doing good. On the way home, pulled a 2nd gear wheelie up on the last nice road before my house. Balance point for a little bit, then It slowly started to tip back, closed the throttle, and tried my best to push the rear brake. Tailpipe hit, spun the bike 90* and tossed me @ ~45mph. Bike cartwheeled & smashed the windscreen/guages. I picked up the big pieces and threw them in the grass, then rode home. Both ankles and my right knee looked like lumpy softballs, and rash on my knee.

THEN, I finally got a cage.

Thats about it.

Novaman, dont forget the one at the stoplight when you did the clutch-drop, to 180-burnout lay down the first night out.
