Darius and OM conviced me to get a handbrake

Well after watching the new OM clip and now siu3 i'm conviced that my project for this winter should be a handbrake (sorry cbo, i'm just not gangsta i guess). I was thinking of just getting a longer bolt for my current m.c and using two banjo bolts on top of one another, then using a clucth mc on the clip on. Anyone done this? Any reason why it wouldn't work? If this won't work give me some other ideas please. I'm not gonna run a dual caliper and i'm not gonna buy any kit, ebay parts only. Anyone know how E-dub runs his?

This is gonna be hard to explain if you havent used one.. but here it goes. A handbrake isnt gonna save you from looping out. If you clutch up a wheelie, then have to switch to the handy, all the while consenrating on BP, you'd be better off just thinking 'throttle' and not worrying bout the handy, cause you'll crash. +12 is the best safety mechanism out right now.. try a few HC scrapes, that bia will pull you right back down. No handy needed.

Maybe for some seat standers I can see its value, but even then... eh. Again, you'd have to use one to see what I'm talking about, those bitches arent gauranteed success.. its rear brake edumacation all over again.

Putting a HB on opens up a whole new book of tricks. some require them and some dont. It just doenst hurt to have one. You can use it if you want to and you dont have to if you dont want to but having it there is just better.

I don't wanna spend that much on da brake though, and basically that looks like a zx7 clutch mc, one with a remote res.

Re: Darius and OM conviced me to get a handbrake

Id also like to score myself a handbreak at some point in time. I think it'd be nice for a saftey percaution in tricks like HC and Spreaders, and seat standers or whatever else trick involves not being by the rear break. Which when it comes to wheelie tricks is quite a few of them. I can see how its not a "garenteed success" type of thing but i think it'd be nice to have the comfort of knowing that if your in that "oh ****" position you got your hand HB there to maybe save your ***.

Re: Darius and OM conviced me to get a handbrake

Doubling up the lines with a longer banjo bolt won't work so hot because you'll have two reservoirs on one system, and inevitably you'll force fluid past each master cylinder and into the reservoir. You may have to look beyond ebay for your solution.

Who's this guy???

LOL Ernie didnt rock a handbrake for the LONGEST time..... i mean he had this bicycle lever that pulled a cable that pulled on the foot pedal to bring it down (which, as you all can imagine, hardly worked..... he could speed up, grab it as hard as he could, and it would seem like only engine braking was slowing him down....)

Anyways hes only been rocking a handbrake for the last 2 months? i think.... all his combos and stuff i dont think he uses it for..... he mastered engine braking and all that stuff first.....

Oh here is a link to Manny's (and E-Dubs is set up just like this too) Handbrake set up.....

Re: Darius and OM conviced me to get a handbrake

Darius's original one was like e-dubs old one, use a cable to pull the brake lever down. Not real effective. I'm gonna go with ur style manny but make a few changes of my own.

Re: Darius and OM conviced me to get a handbrake

handbrake nation

everyone on here, most saying they r gonna put one its, thats where i think its gay
edub, teach, emrock, darius and many others who rock hand brakes
dont even use the dam things on combos and ****
just on the tricks that they have too....if u cant do the basics, and rock ur throttle, and combos..dont put a f'n handbrake on ....
when you get to there level, then put it on...

simple enough
