seriously though how come u can get mots on the sly for car but not for bikes i know my bike would pass but cant be botherd to take off the exhause and fit a indicator slower downer thingy lol

 

I just asked my friendly MOT place if they'd "not notice" the race can, but he said "no, it's all done on computer now and it's too risky to pass as we could lose our licence if a tester official noticed it somehow"

Got standard can on the way though just means waiting till Friday before it's MOTed.

 

just find it weird how u get an mot in the pub for 50 quid for a car but u cant for a bike

 

I think it probably coz there are a load more car than bike test stations, the computerised test has probably stopped it pretty much.
as for race cans, they must not be stamped with 'not for road use' or similar wording & should not be significantly louder than standard......that means in real terms that its down to the testers descression which obviously varies massively from tester to tester. In my oppinion a good tester would be fairly unconcerned with loud cans & small plates and concentrate on safety issues such as wheel alignment, brakes & suspension all of which could be lethal if missed during the test, when was the last time a bike accident was blamed on a no. plate or race exhaust??
I must say though, the test in its current form is an extremly basic examination of the critical components & when I fail a bike its genuinely because i care about the safety of the rider and i feel pi$$ed when someone thinks I enjoy failing their ride , or coz im having a bad day, this is usually the type of person that dosent get a free re-test!! just my
