the term "manchvegas" has its origins in the fact that this city is really little more than a shithole of a broken down old milling town full of crappy cars and half-breed illegitimate frenchies. the irony lay in the fact that it was about as far from a bustling city of shining lights as one could get. The Waumbec mills shut down in sixties and near half the town left due to unemployment and the subsequent economic collapse. The last decade has seen substantial development in both the economic and cultural arenas, but truth be told it will never shake the white trash crack tat character. some of the most wildly popular venues at the recently constructed Verizon Wireless arena are WWF smackdowns. 'nough said.

 

I was actually chillin the a few weeks ago, with someone who was describing the way manchester used to be and how the name "manchvegas" came up.
It was during the good ol gangsta days...back when the Colleseum was around...

not sure though...it came about long before me.

I can say that it started around 88-90 era and we called ManchVegas becasue everyone that lived here but never went anywhere thought it was the biggers place in the world.

Now the funny thing is last time the politial machine was in town, I heard one of the top corrispondents talking to partons ina bar and in his interview he refered to Manchester as ManchVegas!

 

I could swear that my parents told me that they called in MV when they were teenagers....
