Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

Well I finally went and got a 50. Just got it today and was ridin it for about 1/2 an hour till it started pouring. The roads were already wet as hell so my endo attempts didn't work out too well. But I got it up. I was trying to do wheelies but it's damn near impossible! Granted it's a bone stock XR50. No big bars or anything. I tried bouncing it up and it would only come off the ground like an inch. hell I even tried it standing up and it wouldn't do it. The only way I can get it high enough to ride out even the slightest bit is when I shift from 1st to 2nd. I pin 1st, then when I shift into 2nd it jumps up. But I still can't ride it for ****. I'm 6'3 and 185 lbs. Think this might have somethin to do with it? I was told that big bars might help. Anyone got some or a place I can get them? Do I just need to practice more? Somebody wanna give me a tutorial? Thanks in advance guys!

Oh and steve, I love this thing, thanks bro!

Understatement of the year! You're weight and height really doesn't have a anything to do with it, and no aftermarket parts are going to make it easier.

If you're trying to wheelie first gear, remember, it's not a sport bike! It takes skill! To bring up first, barely be moving, hit the gas and just lean back. If first starts to rev up, you'll never get it off the ground. You've got to do it from a very low RPM.

Second gear: Get going about half throttle, then give it a good tug as you lean slightly forward, then quickly lean back as you tug. Should come right up. Cover the brake!

Third gear: learn first and second first. Third is peaky, and unless you've got brake and throttle control down, this is not good.

BTW, I'm about 5'10" and around 200lbs

Re: Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

Thanks for the help bro. It just looks so easy in your video's haha. I"ll try pullin harder and leanin back more. I was just tryin to keep from bustin my ***. Guess I"m spoiled with my big bike and it's clutch! Thanks again! I'll just keep practicing!

Anyone have a site for good aftermarket parts like big bars and shocks and all that jazz? Anyone have any suggestions on things to upgrade? I'm a complete NOOB to fiddy's. Thanks in advance!

fiddys got a clutch, nudge the shifter up halfway, not quite into the next gear and there it is. it will definately wheelie that way. make sure you have brake control down or else youll bust your ***. do a search, theres lots of good tips that helped me. only advice is learn the brake and practice

Street tires and big bars on my bike helped a ton. Although there is no substitute for practice. Get good on it stock then upgrade and you will be a . You just can't be afraid to loop it you just need to go for it :YEAH . Just remember that little thing that can save you under your right foot .

I'm definately not a pro but everytime I go out the wheelies just get better .

Good luck bro !

Re: Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

The big bar kit really helped me alot, gave a wider and straighter arm stance for better leverage and balance. My roomie rocks stock bars and I can't wheelie for the life of me with his bars, I hate them they are like doll bars.

Re: Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

In first gear I like to drag the brake just a little bit to take up the slack in the drivetrain before I pull up in a wheelie. It took me forever to get myself to use the rear brake, but whenever I did the wheelies got way easier.

Re: Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

I just got my big bars on and they've made a huge difference! So much easier! My long *** legs just couldn't stand straddling those little *** bars. I'm makin progress... slowly but surely. I ordered a new suspension and have a new axle and pegs commin. It's on for this winter baby! I'll have it by spring... or there will be a 50 for sale!

hellz yeah false neutral is the way to go...... i used to try to nudge it up but when i was first learning but my foot would get stuck and i messed my ankle up after the fiddy fell on it a couple times.... so i just push it down..... dont forget the back brake..... man until i got the back brake down i wrecked my *** off soooo bad....

Re: Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

I think it's easier to wheelie on a stock fiddie than a modded one.
The easiest of all is on a Z with that fat tires, in second I can ride them as long as I want to. I don't know what it is(besides the wide tires) but it is so easy to find the sweet spot on a Z

Re: Can't wheelie!! HELP ME WITH MY NEW TOY!

I found out my major problem was my tire. The bitch was damn near flat... and I thought that was a good thing. Like on big bikes. Ended up pinching a tube. So I got a new one... and pumped that bad boy up nice and hard. Made all the difference in the world! My wheelies are gettin much better. There is a road behind my house.. and my goal is to be able to wheelie the entire thing before the end of winter. If I didn't work so damn much I'd be able to! But it's gettin better.
