Re: polishing

yeah its pretty easy
There could be a clear coat on it. Get rid of that. Stripper etc.
Then sand with some real fine sandpaper so you don't scratch it. If you scratch it too badly, you will spend lots of time and beer later polishing it.
Then you can get at SEARS for like 10 bucks a polishing kit you hook up to a drill. It comes with wheels and abrasives.
Spin away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: polishing

I rebuilt my entire engine in my living room of my BOQ. The special tools that I have are a clutch tool, flywheel puller, and I made a valve compressor.

Re: polishing

Me and f1fty are planning on doing this. He has a polishing wheel that replaces one of the discs on his bench grinder. Pics will come when we get the time to do it, prolly this weekend.

Re: polishing

I just tried doing this the other night. A friend of mine was helping me and I didn't like it. They looked like ****. We sand blasted them first to get the paint and coating off then started sanding and working our way through and we started finding all these lines and creases in them. Looks like casting marks like different types of metals in the same piece they cast. It was weird. We went ahead and took the right side cover up to the shine and it was still very noticable. Looked like crap like lots of metal of different types folded over each other. I have an '04. Needless to say they were re-blasted and I finished painting them last night. Im just going with paint. This was just my perhaps I got a shitty last cover of the run that day or something but who knows..

try it out and see how it turns out. You can always paint them like I ended up doing. Thinking back now I wish I would have taken a pic but I wasn't home and didn't have my camera.

actually yea I did! :YEAH but I don't have a working PC at home right now so I can't upload them yet and my work PC won't allow since my company has admin only enabled on our network. My hard drive completely died a week and half back or so.

I have all the pics still on my camera so as soon as I get it working they will all be uploaded! Trust me when I say it looks fekking awesome! I'm getting ready to reassemble it all this weekend. I ended up painting my stock plastics too.. and a few other things hahahah once you get started its hard to stop.. well until your bank account dries up anyway!
