Did mine not too long ago, man. I used that new DupliColor anodized red. I just sanded down the rims with 400 grit sandpaper, deflated the tires and put newspaper between the rim and the tire to avoid overspray on the tire. I just painted the rims on the ground, didn't really find any reason to hang them. I put about 5 coats of the anodized down first (be sure to allow sufficient dry time in between each coat otherwise you'll get a run). After that, I hit the rims with about 5 coats of DupliColor clear coat to give them a more finished look and more chip protection. Allow to dry, reinflate the tires, and go bust out some wheelies! Haven't had any problems so far. Let me know if you need any other info.

Get some Aircraft Stripper (that's the actual name of the stuff). Use that stuff to take the gold paint off (watch out that **** will give you chemical burns from hell). Buff and sand the forks and then hit it with a 3-5 coats of black.
You don't have to take the gold paint off though. You can just sand it down with some 400 grit and paint over the gold. I just figure if I'm gonna do something, do it right the first time.

Re: paint rims

ive had many metal parts slowly get weak when ive used aircraft paint remover..

heres my frame fork and swingarm painted black..all i used was 200 grit sand paper, and high temp paint 500 degrees..dont use that paint..its a little too soft..(i just painted it with what i had in my garage..)
