Just started my 88cc kit, help me LOL!!!!

I am use to what it sounds like stock, so I need to know if it's not running correctly!!!!

It sounds like the rings are rubbing on the cyclinder wall, is that normal. Its a faint metal sound. I can here it as idle speed. I ran it for about 30 secs. Will that go away with time or did I do something very wrong?????

Thanks,

JQ

be more specific. a very common noise is improplerly adjusted valves. more of a ticking than a scraping noise.

I took the bike to the dealer to verify that the valve settings were ok. I then took it home and started it. It sounds like the rings are rubbing on the cylinder wall. Is this normal?

I put oil on the cylinder wall when assembling. I don't think it's a tapping noise. It definately sounds like the rings rubbing on the cylinder.

I installed the rings like DRATV's site suggests you do it. It's a tight fit when the piston with rings go into the cylinder, I don't think one came off but at idle it sounds like its rubbing????

Oh well, if it's not a normal sound, I am just going to take it to the dealer so he can shake his head or tell me it's a normal sound... probably my fault somewhere!!!

Thanks,

JQ

Is it more like a ticking/clanking noise that goes away the more you rev the bike? If so I had this problem, thought it was the valves but it was because I forgot to install the little spacer tubes that go in between the head and cylinder.

With out them allignment is off and you will get that noise. After putting them back in the noise was gone. Cant remember if I put pics of the spacer tubes on the howto or not, www.50mod.com.

I put on the dowls that go on the two rods that hold on the gaskets and align the cylinder and head.(pic below) I have talked over the process with a couple mechanics and I am still shaking my head. I am just going to take it into the dealer, have them disassemble it and tell me what I did wrong

Anyways, I will post what it was when it's done. I wonder if the oil pump isn't working? I installed a high volume pump.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I just can't understand it. IT's not brain surgery and I asked questions everytime I needed an answer, with 2 trips to the dealer to do things I didn't understand. Hmmm.. I hate when this happens.... LOL It's all a learning experience, hopefully not a whole new kit experience.

Pic of the dowls I was talking about on leg top left and bottom right, is that would you are referring too? Vonde001?

OK OK OK.... LOL I am too much....

The sound I thought was metal was actually the air going back into the engine. I am use to hearing it on a stock engine and it's much different without the stock airbox. LOL

Thanks for everyones help. It's runs like a raped ape.
