Unhappy bike cutting out/missing

I NEED HELP WITH MY XR50 THAT I PURCHASED 2 DAYS AGO!! It's equipped with a 88cc takegawa bore kit (cam, carb, rev box, etc.) and a white bros. pipe. I have a couple of problems:
1) when in third gear at full throttle, I let off the throttle and get back on it slightly-l1/2 to 3/4 throttle- the bike seems to cut of or hesitate. I dropped the needle clip one from the middle and adusted the air screw 1 turn out from the fully closed position. The bike still runs the same. Got any idea why it does this???
2)If you have a big bore kit installed, will it be harder to turn over compared to stock because of the higher compression??? My 88cc bike turns over just like my stock 50. Normal or not?? Does the valves need to be adjusted??? If so, whats the valve clearence spec for the takegawa cam?? I did not do any of the work in installing the bore, so I don't know what they did.

ANY HELP WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED!!! THANKS

Re: bike cutting out/missing

1. before u mess with the carb, make sure the bolt is tight right under the gas tank. it should be grounding a green wire to the frame there. i see this bolt loose so many times its crazy. if, thats not it, most likely it needs some carb adjustments. do a search on here and u will find some of the best XR50 carb info on the net.

2. takagawa kits dont have a alot of compression but it should be a little harder than stock to kick over. valve lash is .002 - .003" of an INCH. adjust both valves when at top dead center on the compression stroke. good luck.

Re: bike cutting out/missing

I have a Takegawa 88 kit/cam/valves/20mm carb/rev box and it does the same thing. I've tried tuning it out and can't get rid of it.

Let me know what you figure out.

I don't know .. I just purchased the bike with the parts already on. I guess what ever comes in the kit. Maybe 18 or 20 mm.

Re: bike cutting out/missing

if its too small of a carb then that might be why your bike is bogging in third gear, it might not be getting enuf air fast enuf

But you would think that when they sell it as a kit, that they would put the rite size carb with the package rite???

Re: bike cutting out/missing

I think I may have solved the problem. I checked the green ground wire below the gas tank and it was tight. I took it apart anyway and sanded the area down and reattached the wire. Rode the bike; still the same. Figured it must be the carb. Took apart needle and dropped clip down all the way; bike ran like crap so I raise the clip positon; bike ran a whole lot better. I also adjusted the fuel mixture screw 3/4 turn out from fully seated. The bike misses jus a bit but runs a whole lot better!!

Re: bike cutting out/missing

ok i know this will sound stupid
but if your bike is to rich it will do the same thing
first things first
what carb is on it,what airfilter is on it
do this test
get it where it is phucin up and then turn on the choke
it will either run better meaning it is lean or it will run worse
meaning it is already to rich
also check the oil to make sure it doesnt smell like gas
the coulda left the gas on and it seeped into the oil
this will make them run like chit on top end
you might also check the wires on the coil they will get bumped around alot and make them loose and that will make it run crappy
my bet is its to rich
good luck
ps
if none of that works check the cam timing
