How are you guys fitting xr70 carbs? I have a 70 carb & manifold and it's too high to clear the frame. I bought a dratv.com angle adjuster and a flexible pod filter and still cant get it to fit without a lift-kit.

im running a 72 xl70 motor bored and stroked to 100cc with a cam, head mainly cleaned up not really ported off of a stk xl 70 and timing advanced about 3 degree's its all set up for bottom not for top
i do dirttrack on slick concrete and dirt, motard, and parking lot road racing and genearal playing
i dont use the top end alot cause most of the stuff is so tight that we run on 2nd 3 rd gear, rarely do i use 4th gear 14/37 on the sprokets
i also use an intake three times longer than anyone else and there in lies the difference with a short intake you right your probably not going to gain
on the bottom with a bigger carb cause it will over load the intake and port
short intakes are for top end not bottom end

im actually in the same problem as you r... i went to my local honda dealership and they have a guy there that speciallizes jus in 50s and he has the baddest 50 ever... he told me that the 20mm carb is to big IF u dont get a high performance cam aswell... so thats wut im getting a 20mm carb and a HRC Cam.. also when u get the 75 kit it gives u awesome bottem end up to 4 grand rpm when u put the cam n carb on it gives u awesome bottom end up to 12 grand i believe so i would go wit the cam n carb... if not jus go wit the 16mm carb off the 70 ur choice more money but better results
