Has anyone installed there 72cc Motor? Is that 4 speed tranny a rotary? How is the quality. I'm looking for a general impression compared to the honda motors.

i installed one. the tranny is not rotary. it shifts 4 down. N 1 2 3 4. they run very strong. i recomend a 20mm carb for it. the carb it comes with runs like ****. i put the 20mm on it and it made such a differeance. cant beat that motor for the price.

We have a shop and are a Midwest dealer for the Lifan Motors and complete bikes. I have a 90cc 4 speed manual and i put a Kitaco 18mm carb. We also did a 110 4 sp manual and another 90 4 speed. The other have the Walbro Carbs. They are very good motor and all the XR50 motor accesories will go right on. IF you have any question about them just PM me or Email at dawg64@aol.com and i can try to answer them. I have a large dealers and distributors list if you need anything feel free to let me know. Thanks
JC

The lifan motors look very similar to Hondas but inside are very different which I have found out..

Especially the head..... The cam in these motors is completely different from anything you will find in a Honda. The new Chinese
Replica motors are kind of a mix of the old PRE 1980 HONDA Z50 motors and the new xr50 stuff. Parts are not AS interchangeable as I thought. The valves in the LIFAN 50 motor are also bigger than a Honda CT70 or XR70. Its just a oddball setup.

It seems like the stuff is ok quality ...but personally I would rather stick with Honda.

Nick,

I don't know why you are buying one of these motors especially after you just put a BIG BORE 88 in your bike. Save some money and just run your stock motor and up the gearing to a 15 tooth front... You will be amazed.

OR....

If you go to DRATV's website you can order a 4 speed auto trans for less than $200.
