Fork drop

I installed a set of Red Barron HD fork and shock springs on my stock 50. There is the usual slop but also the forks/springs have a clunking noise when I pull up on the bars like the spring separates from the collar or spring perches. Not a problem but annoying. Any ideas or tips?? Also I'm cheap and found a way to take a little of the slop out by wrapping the stock bushing with tape. Not too much or it will not slide into the fork housing. Quick fix till I get new bushings.
