running lean from pipe install.

i just put a bbr pipe on my '72 z50, it was running good, but now i am lean up until i put the choke on half way. any cheap fixes to this? carb is stock pos non-adjustable garbage. im thinking about ripping it apart and drilling the jets?

Re: running lean from pipe install.

i'll answer my own question. i was running EXTREMELY LEAN and drilled my main jet one "number bit" up from what it was which was next to nothing, i will get the actual size later, it actually made my bike so rich that it ran like ****. i ended up pulling my air filter off to lean it back out to almost a perfect stoich. now it runs AMAZING. my bro just clocked me at 28mph on flat ground with low tire pressure for "stunting."
to drill your main jet out, unscrew your two intake manifold bolts, then disconnect your air filter, and throttle cable. now remove the carb, take the bowl off of the bottem of the carb (it will be 2 screws). with the bowl removed the jet is dead center of the carb looking at the bottem of the carb. it has a little cover over the bottem (well top from your view). just pull the jet out. with the cover off drill the jet out and reinstall everything how it was. remember that the slightest bit larger of a hole in the jet will create a much richer air/fuel mixture.
