I'm picking up my 05' 50 this saturday for 750 bucks so I want to mod it right away. My first mod is going to be some bars and then I'm gonna work on the motor. What is the best motor mod for the xr50 for under 100 bucks? Cam, CDI box, etc....? Which CDI box is the best or they all the same?

best thing you could do would be to save up to 140 dollars and get the trailbikes 88 light bore kit.... or for 100 bucks you can even get a 88 kit from DRATV

If you want good power, save up for a big bore kit puttin money into the stock 50 is a waste, (unless you race in 50cc class), you could put a pipe, cam, carb, aircleaner, and a cdi on the stock 50, and still get smoked by one with a Stage I 88cc kit, that costs 140.

Sorry to jack the thread but I have a question for moorport....

What is the best bore kit for a stunt 50 in your opinion? I like doing circles on my friends Z50 with the TB 88cc w/head, rather then a stock 50.. Trying to decide on an 88cc kit for my stunt 50 Im building. Want aome good smooth power...

 

I like all the kits, but for smoothest power, the Stage I with the stock head and carb is the smoothest. Stage II and III get more twitchy, but more power too. Its a touch choice, I rock Stage III in my 50 right now, and love it.

 

What's the reliability factor on the DRATV kits?

 

CDI box is pointless till you get a 88 kit or higher.
