Help with after market clutch in XR70

I have just installed an after market manual clutch kit in an XR70,
Is it normal to have to leave the clutch handle out when starting the bike,
If you pull the clutch handle it the kick start does not turn the engine.
Have I missed something during the install.
Thanks

that's normal.. you have to start it in neutral. there are 2 types of transmissions sone of them are able to start in gear, but they are not honda tranmissions.. i forget wich ones do start in gear.

it's basicly because the clutch is mounted on the crank so when you pull the clutch you dis-engage the kicker gear from turning the crank

yea, but you have the auto clutch...he converted to manual clutch...big difference... you can start them in gear with both but they will try and take off on you.. but the manual one is much harder because it wont sit there and idle in gear....
