Cool Home made hand brake

I saw some guys from a stunt team recently in Maryland and one of them had a home made kit he said cost like $10 and took him no time to hook up. He used bmx/bicycle cable and lever, and then a home made bracket.

I jimmy rigged a line the other day but went straight from the lever down to my foot brake (I thought it was a good idea at the time) but the cable broke when I turned the handlebars too far.

My question is this, If I have the lever and the cable, does anyone know how to fabricate the bracket portion? If you do, detailed info would be helpful.

Thanks!

If you could post the pics that would be tight, thanks man. If the pics are good enough I should be able to just mimic your setup.

C'mon now... chop chop... go get those pics!

Re: Home made hand brake

i'd love to see the hose clamp setup!

Don't really want to weld onto my brand new fiddy.. Also don't wanna get ripped off paying for a kit

Re: Home made hand brake

i built mine at home, you'll need a bandsaw, a drill, a tap set and a few screws adn bicycle clamps

you'll weld 2 flat rectangles together, in an "L" shape, tehn brace it by welding a triangle to each piece rith in the 90 degree joint to brace it, then drill holes through it to your frame , tap them to M6 x 1.25 adn get some metric bolts and mount it up,

then i welded a flat piece with a bicycle cable clamp to the brake arm... it's pretty simple if you look at it
