Thumpstar ?
Thumpstar ?
i tried a search and found nothing so here we go. my friends thumpstar 110 rear brake gets real hot and smokes then it sticks. after sitting for a little while it unlocks and it will roll after cool down. does anybody else own one of these with this prob. any solutions?
Re: Thumpstar ?
I got one - same prob.
The brake shoes are not in correct, they've got little tabs that need setting into the caliper casting. Another cause is the brake lever travel adjustment, its a fine line between loads of movement (its a long lever) and dragging the pads, adjust and keep spinning the back wheel after each adjustment, to check.
Other thing it could be is the caliper in the wrong place, the front inside edge can scrape the disc if its had a ding.
Great bike otherwise, except for the rear-shock any good ones out there?

Re: Thumpstar ?
well i answerd my own question. i got it in my shop today and decided to bleed the system. well i seen that the resivor was under the seat so i pulled the seat/plastics off and found the problem, the resivor is just f-ing sitting there sideways and sucking air/fluid. so i mounted it straight up and blead the system, and fixed the mounting. now it works awesome.
