Re: Stoppies?

I've been practicing for months and get some decent ones with stock brakes. I wouldn't worry about the height .. Just work on distance. I would go to a parking lot and try to do the distance of 1 parking spot ... and so on.. Practice in third gear and take your time it will come with time

id have to disagree, im still going the same speed that i started with. i was gettin 20 feet, now im gettin 50. distance will come with practice. otherwise youre gonna be goin too fast for too little distance and that will hurt when you wreck. just try to be consistent and work your way up from there.

btw, this trick, you WILL wreck so wear a helmet or somethin. theres no way to save you but jump, tuck, roll

Re: Stoppies?

I agree with both FIVE-0 and HURRICANE. I can roll about 45 ft after some practice runs. You need to concentrate on both speed and height at the same time. If you want to travel, 3rd gear is a must.
Just grab a handfull and hold on. I ride stock brakes, stock front suspension and I roll 'em just fine. Oh yeah stock handlebars too.

Practice, Practice!!! Before you know it, you'll have your feet over the bars rocken' 'em hardcore.

It's all about practise and feelin the balance point. My boy Brett can get it up quick and he rolls them 80' in second gear with stock drums :YEAH . I swear he practises them every day though

Re: Stoppies?

If you're gonna flip let off the brake. Wow you do need practice. j/k dude, you'll get it you need to learn how to feather the brake. The only way to learn is to keep doin' little stoppies. You're better off going slower and keeping control even if you only roll 2 ft keep the control.

Re: Stoppies?

I have a feeling I could roll alot better on street tires. The knobbies on my stock tires grab too good and it slows me way down, I think, myabe.?.

Re: Stoppies?

Furthest i've ever rolled on the front tire is almost 90 feet. Get street tires first. Very sketchy on the stocker tire.

The trick with stoppies is to not lose speed. Come in fast (I do 3rd gear WFO). I like to keep my arms straight. Butt on the back of the seat and knees right into the tank. I then stand up off the seat probably a few inches and as I come back down I hit the front brake quick and lift my butt back up a lil bit and then let the bike come back to me and just coast the brake. When i'm going for distance I usually use no brake for 10-15 feet - that's scary

Just becareful because I looped it 3rd gear pinned. Front tire caught a lil imperfection in the pavement and I broke my throttle and scratched up my shiney blue plastics I banged up my knee and elbow and scuffed up my helmet too but I don't care about myself .. the fiddy man... the poor fiddy

Re: Stoppies?

I claim to be no pro but this is how I do 'em. You actually want the *** end alot higher. I'm usually over the front wheel so much that I have to arch my back to keep the bike balanced over it. This is an old pic. I just wanted to illustrate where my *** sits. My nuts are about on the tank.
Yeah I know my face looks like I'm takin a ****.
