Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
OK. This is a WARNING, not a rant...
I bought my bike on Good Friday of 03.
Financed $6000 through suzuki credit.
All was good till april of this year.
My account was transferred to "Household Bank" (whoever that is)
and I received a letter saying not to make anymore payments to Suzuki and that I would be receiving my new payment book in the mail.
so I waited... no payment book
My payment came due, so I called suzuki... They said they were in the process of transferring the accounts over, but they could take the payment via electronic check and cover the payment.
OK, So I did.
3 weeks later, the check STILL hadn't cleared.
I called suzuki and they had no record of me having an active account. everything had been transferred to the new finance co. and I was to contact them.
So, I stopped payment on the E-Check ($30) and proceded to contact the new bank.
They had no record of me either!
but they asked that I call back in about a week so they can get all the information in the system. and they assured me that they wouldn't report late payments to credit bureau's or anything such as that...
OK... Understandable...
I call the next week, still no record.
the week after that, still nothing.
I then called them on a monthly basis. TRYING to make my payment!
I still hadn't gotten any payment book, invoice or documentation from the bank yet.
I call suzuki again, and they can't help... it's outta their hands. (greeeat)
I keep calling the bank monthly to try and get my payments made, but to no avail.
Then... I get a call at work about 2 weeks ago. saying that he is from the bank and see's that I haven't made a payment.
WELL DUUUUH!
I procede to explain the situation.
he isn't very kind or understanding and tells me I should have received a statement in the mail at my address. (call my parents, nothing has arrived.)
that night, I get the statement at my apartment... I make a payment and mail it off.
friday... My parents get a call from a corporate collections agency.
Household bank is closing my account and wants payment in FULL!!! IMMEDIATLEY!
OK. This is BS.
I talk to the guy and he says they want $6200 right now... WAIT! I only financed $6000... What Tha ****???
I tell the guy "Tell the bank that I will find other means of financing, but I will pay off only what they have on the books as to what my payoff currently is."
They now have come back with a figure of $4408... Better...
But I have to get financing by the end of the week and have it paid in full or they will hit my credit.
If anyone else has had any issues like this... beware. get out of "household bank" ASAP!
Those guys are NUTS!

Re: Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
Sorry about the crazy situation, but take this as a lesson learned. Always when you talk to someone over the phone about business, get names of people. Also when you made your payment over the phone you should've had them send you a paper reciept in the mail. Doucment everything next time just in case....
Re: Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
I did.
I have all the records.
They still say that there are no records of any calls and "Joe SMith" (or whatever that guys name was) IS an employee there, but they have no call records what so ever.
"Me calling in, doesn't negate the fact that I failed to make my payments on time."
So I'm gonna just refinance, pay them off, and if they hit my credit... I'll Sue them.

I just got Full coverage back on the bike... $130/MO.
and confirmation from my bank that I was approved for the loan! ({Credit Union of Texas} at a lower interest rate, and knocked a whole year off the payment terms. but my payment only goes up $3 per month. WOO HOO! )
This has been a CRAZY week. Hope that everything is resolved by mid next week.
Re: Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
Mine got transferred over, the only thing is they messed up my somewhere and my statments keep sayin i owe like 400, more than double the payment. but i call and they say its a error and there trying to get cuaght up and to send my usual payment. everyone from household ive talked to has been pretty cool.
Re: Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
If you can prove that you did indeed make the payments and made the calls regarding your account you can take em to court and get your credit back on track again. I had some college do similar **** to me and I took em to court and judge made them cancel all the extra fees they were charging me.
Re: Got Screwed by Suzuki Credit
I financed through my local credit union, My best friend has his cars (3) through them also, never had a problem, And hopefully neither of us will in the future, I hope all is well with you now.
