Hey Im thinking about getting a R6 in a year or two when I can get my lisence....is this a good bike or is the gixxer or hondas better?...My freind says his brothers Gsxr600 is the best in its class...what do you guys think I should get as far as a 600cc sport bike?

 

It's preferance, you will probably never have the full skills to completely utilize the bikes full performance, so just pick one you really like. The R6's are said to be easier to throw into the curves.........and I personally am a yamaha guy, so I'd say hell yeah. One way or other, wear your gear, and don't be a squid when you do get one

 

R6 is awesome bike, both street and track... However I only had mine for a few months when the transmission acted up. After asking around I realized that this is very comon for pre-'02 bikes. Not a big deal if you know how to change a transmission or want to learn, but something to keep in mind (as it's about 1200-1400$ if done at the dealer).

Just my experience... The R6 is still an awesome bike that you'll never get enough of!

 

Kool....Im always gonna wear all my leathers unless im just ridin around my town then I'll just rock a helmet and gloves/jeans...I think im gonna get a brand new R6 when I get it so the tranny shouldnt be a problem..gotta start saving now :YEAH

 

I just purchased my new 2004 r6 about a week and a half ago, I have nearly 1,000 miles on it mostly streets, and some freeway, I personally like the bike a lot, I have not taken it to a track, but Ive always owned Yamaha starting with dirtbikes, I have never had a problem with them. Goodluck! I think buy what you like, not what someone else likes, I would say all 600CC's are pretty compareable? Correct me if im wrong.

 

Thats cool...Yeah I think most 600cc bikes are pretty close but the 2005 R6 is sick!...they re-desighned the forks, made it have more power and redisighed some other things its nice....

Bro the R6 was my first streetbike I rode, and it's fukin awsome. Its a great bike, it picks up speed smooth and its a great beginner bike. I love it and lookin to buy someones r6 soon.....

 

Hey what up? Yamaha R6's are the best bikes for the money you want to spend. They are great for stuntin, and I assure you- you will be very happy with it. I recommend a 2003.

 

No one has said much about the gixxer 600, ninja 6r or cbr 600. Any reviews on any of those? I'm looking for a 600 to upgrade to in a year or so. I was looking at the ninja 600 just because I started on a ninja 250 but i guess i should start looking at the yamaha r6 instead?

yea my boy has a zx6 its more stunt friendly fo sure, like i said r6s are track bikes im sure f4s and the gixxer are muce mure stuntable too. The r6 is in its own class in my opinion

 

Hey, that's awesome that you're actually willing to be wearing gear when you ride, but dude, it's around town that you feel most comfortable and because of that it's the place where the most accident happen, being too comfortable and not paying attention.

Personally, no matter where I'm going, be it 1/4 mile down the street to the store for milk or for a ride to New Hampshire, I always wear the helmet, boots, gloves, jeans and Jacket.

If you wipe out without gear, at almost any speed, you're gonna get some good road rash, even at like 15 you're gonna slide.
So you really want to wear the jacket, plus you look pimp cause the shoulder pads and stuff make you look ripped.

And the reason for boots being that if you happen to spill, even a really little one, weird things can happen. I never though anything would until a buddy of mine crashed in a turn doing 35 or so, not bad at all except that somehow his right foot went through the rear sprocket. And the sneakers he was wearing flew right off the only thing on between his foot and the chain and sprocket was a sock.
He lost the top 1/4 inch or so off of a couple of his tow's wicked nasty.

So just always, ALWAYS, wear the gear.
