929 rr malfunction light

Hey, i'm having this problem with my bike. whenever it feels like it, the malfunction light pops up. but not when i turn it on, no, more like after 3-4 miles, and that's only once every 15 rides. Also, if i turn off the ignition and turn it back on, the light goes off and does come back until ....... who knows.

Also, some times to times, again , my engine will just stalls at a stop sign if i dont roll it until 1 - 1.5 rpm.

im confused as hell

Maybe u guys can help me out

When the light flashes again, count the blinks and let me know what they are. There are short and long blinks....for example, it may have one long blink (approx. 3 seconds) and two shorl blinks (1 second each). Post up when ya get them.

Re: 929 rr malfunction light

here's the thing, there isnt any blinks. it's a contant red light.
Except maybe once (this afternoon), i had 8 blinks. i checked ou the manual and it mention a short circuit somewhere i believe. the thing is that it only happens every so often, no every time i turn the ignition on.

Do u think thos issue is link to the fact that the bike stalls ?

Re: 929 rr malfunction light

Yes, I do. The code you are referring to is a throttle position sensor malfunction. When the t.p.s. fails, stalling will be an issue. When it fails, the ECM has no idea how far the throttle is open, so it can't adjust the mixture (rich or lean) Check the plug to make sure that it didn't come undone and ok for any corrosion on the pins.

Re: 929 rr malfunction light

also, i dunno if it can affect anything, i have a commander 3 installed.

oh, might be a stupid question, but what plug are you refering to ?
btw, might also be linked my headlights are having problems (hey, cheap bike, had to have problems) but i found out why, a wire in the handle bar is coming off, so i just have to find a way to permanently fix it.

thx for your help.

Re: 929 rr malfunction light

I have seen power commanders do some weird stuff....unplug it ant try the bike without it. The plug I'm talking about is the t.p.s. plug...its on the right side of the throttle bodies...check the manual for wire colors. As far as the wire in the switch, it is probably not related to your other problem. Good luck!

Re: 929 rr malfunction light

first of all, sorry i didnt answer is so long, i got busy recently.
so i didnt take the PC off, but i did try to see and changed map on it but nothing affected the tps, so i went to a dealer so they can test it, and they said it wasnt working properly. (i don't know if they consider the fact that i have a PC but my guess would be yes)
the reason y i didnt take it off is because i didnt install it, so im not sure if it's just an upgrade or if it replace something that was previously taken off.

anyway, if it is a faulty tps, do you have any clue where i could get a new on ?

thanks

Re: 929 rr malfunction light
