929 salvage title - prices and registration info
929 salvage title - prices and registration info
wats up. i was wondering how the salvage title affects the price of a bike. Should it bring down the price a lot like how it is w/ a car, or is it different? Im looking at a couple of 929's. Btwn 9k-15k salvage titles, but ride straight, no major mech. problems - anyone have a price range? I searched but didnt come up with much. Any info appreciated.
Also, anyone know about registering/insuring a salvage title bike in New york? do i need some kind of hardcore inspection? i'm figurin if the vin#'s on the motor/frame/title match up it should be no sweat, but ive never bought a salvage title vehicle before. again, any help/input appreciated. thanks

Hey man which ever 929's you dont buy let me kno about!!!! I really want one and I dont care about salvage titles as long as the frame isnt tweaked and the motor is good.
As for NYS it sux. From what my friends tell me its just such a pain in the *** to get a rebuilt title. You have to fill out the forms for the title, submit that, then about 6 weeks later (hopefully) they will give you a date to bring your bike in, or atleast all the receipts for what fixed on your bike. *SAVE ALL RECEIPTS FROM PARTS* they wanna make sure none of the stuff was stolen. Then I guess you have to go and get it inspected assuming you pass their test. I guess EVERYTHING must work mint.
My friends dad just called it quits on a bike he was rebuilding cuz NYS was being a usual pain in the ***. I wish I could find a dropped 929 with a clean title

As for getting a rebuilt title in NY, it is very difficult. However, I can help you in this area and you wouldn't have to do a thing.
