aight i think thats from enemy of the state......As for the cops montering the boards....imo if you go through the trouble to steal something, then have the ***** to announce it on a public forum you deserve to get caught. I doubt even someone saying that they stole something on a msg board could be used to in an attempt to gain a warrent to search for the stolen property. As for stuntin, if the general public finds out the cops wasted tax dollars and man hours to look on forums for evidence against stunters id imagine there would be MANY pissed off people that have had real crimes against them calling government officals and causing hell.

The person who mentioned this said they only monitor key words and it's not like a human is listening... they just flag your name if you keep saying the right words i would imagine... and it is real i have worked for ISPs my whole life and the US Govt does install black boxes that do this.

well sorry for irritating you, but what Katanaman said is almost exactly what i remember the old dude saying in that movie. Its not like i was comparing it to a competely different subject like the star treck comment. Anyhow just cause i make a comment about this situation being similar to a movie makes me a dumbass....yea that real mature. I never denied the fact that the government does monitor us and what we do on the net and our personal lives, because i believe they do. Like I was trying to say before, if your dumb enough to post information that can get you put behind bars online....be it in a forum, a PM or whatever else....then its your mistake for trusting the system. But if the government is using this stuff to give out tickets and it becomes more widely known, the general public isnt going to be happy knowing that not only is their privacy being violated(not that you really have any on the net) but their own tax dollars are being used to fund the violation of their privacy. Even if a computer highlights names based on specific words...unless the computer can tell the difference between two people discussing terrorists and bombings from two actual terrorists discussing their upcoming plans, a human is still going to have to read all the stuff that has the key words involved. I dont know if computers are capabale of understanding the difference between the 2. The terrorist stuff i just used as an example, but any decussion of a crime buy people that were not involved in the act could get them red flagged for committing a crime if your just searching for key words.
