Question Crash cage ground clearance..?

I spend as much time on one wheel as I do scraping feelers on highway exit/entrance ramps. I am considering buying a cage, but realized that would most probably scrape at any repectable lean?

Anyone here w/a cage push their bike in the twisties? If so, what type of clearance do you realize at lean, and what type of cage is it. I have a ZX6RR, and looked at the pic on the powers cage site. http://www.powersbikeworx.com/zx600rr/6rr015.jpg It looks like it follows the contour of the fairing closest of all the cages out there, but I'm still very curious as to how much clearance is lost at lean.

Thank you all in advance, as your help would be appreciated.

Re: Crash cage ground clearance..?

im dealin with the same thing right now. im gonna buy/build a cage that doesnt go under the bike... it only goes out as far as sliders would. thats the best option IMO. i dunno if anyone makes a cage like that for your bike, but you could always build one or have one custom built for you. your next best option would just be to take the cage off when you plan on hhittin twisties. but if youre like me, you like to do both all day long

edit: just found out that the bottom part of FI cages are removable. so thats probably your best bet

Very interesting...
How much protection do the "track" cages offer? Are they on par with a competitors "full" cage?
Are "track" cages as you call them listed as "1/2 cage" on your site, or otherwise?
When do you intend on producing the 2003/04 ZX6-R & RR cages?

Re: Crash cage ground clearance..?

i love my racing905 cage but i will admit i could prolly scrape the cage on a highspeed/leaned u turn if i felt like it. Its been awhile since i really got all crazy in the twisties, but i would definatly have to take the cage of to go canyon carving...

Re: Crash cage ground clearance..?

Do you usually sit back in the seat resting your back on the passenger seat or snug up against the tank? My shins/knees already touch the back of the fairing.
