hurricane temp guage help

so i have this '89 hurricane (red) and the temp guage doesnt seem to be working.

the guage itself is working, as i tested it as per the manual by grounding the sender wire and the guage shoots up to "H" just as the manual says it should.

but when i run the bike, the guage goes up a tiny bit, still in the first big "C" block and never ever moves past this, even if i sit there letting the bike rev at 3k for 5 minutes and never in traffic has it ever gone past this, even when i have felt the heat really coming up from the motor.

i have another hurricane (black) with a working temp guage. i swapped over the whole thermostat housing and it still doesnt work (i am left with the same result, the temp guage works on the black bike and doesnt on the red bike). so it doesnt seem to be the sender or the thermostat or the guage.

what else is there to try?

Re: hurricane temp guage help

check that all the wires running from the guage are in tact and not rotted out.. also any/all connectors are securely fastened.
