What would YOU do?
I've been tossing around some ideas. Last year one of my riding buddies was on my dad's '99 F4 when he crashed (hit sand in turn, rear tire caught traction and he bit guardrail @ ~30mph), totalling the bike in the process. Plastics are 80% shot (one side and the tail may be salvagable w/ some work), frame is toast (steering head torn open, cross brace busted), forks are trashed. What I'm wondering is where I should go with it. I thought about just buying new parts (front end for $250, $350w/rim; frame for $950; plastics for ??) and rebuilding it. Then I considered dropping the motor into a different bike, like an older CBR or even an old standard bike just to have a wild ride. The most recent idea I had was to start looking for some CB600F parts and just build one of the new 599s, more or less. It's easy to sit around and think up the ideas when the money is slow, but one of these days I'm going to have to actually do something. So if it were you, what would YOU do?
