Fuel Injection Swap......

I have an 02 R6, carbed. I can get my hands on a full 03 R6 fuel injection setup for pretty cheap. Would I be able to adapt it to my '02 R6? How much work would it involve. I think it would be worth the work if it will adapt. TIA

Re: Fuel Injection Swap......

Yea, the plan is to keep the 02 motor. I have the FI and engine wire harness from an 03. Just wondering if there is anyone that knows any info on this so im not doing it blindfolded.

Thanks,
Nick

Re: Fuel Injection Swap......

look at the '03 harness and see where all the connections go. more then likely (almost positively) there are gonna be more connections on the '03 harness then you can make on the '02 motor. things like a cam or crank sensor aren't neccessary on a carbed bike, but neccessary on a FI bike. there's probably a few other sensors that are necesary for a '03 that you won't find on an '02. either you're gonna end up with an '02/'03 hybrid motor or a no go on anything. your best bet is to get a '03 service manual, see where everything goes and then see where you stand. but you'll more then likely end up spending alot more then just on the FI.

Re: Fuel Injection Swap......

yaaa, someone's input :YEAH haha, thats what I was thinking, also wondering how the bolt pattern is, if its the same. Will 03 motors fit in a 02 frame(r6's)?

Re: Fuel Injection Swap......

the only way i'd do it is if you swapped an entire 03 FI motor (kit car style) from airbox to pipe, header to tranny!(03 wiring included) I belive there are way more sensors for the fi set up
