high mileage bikes

assuming a bike has its oil changed on schedule, how many miles do you think a bike can log before the engine starts going down hill. I dont see too many high mileage sportbikes but assuming thats because they get wrecked. i think the most ive seen is about 50,000. would you guys buy a high mileage bike? say 25,000

Re: high mileage bikes

My old speedometer said like 22,000mi but I haven't had one on it for a year and a half. So I have no Idea what the mileage is now. It runs perfect still all I do is change the oil, filters and the basic stuff. It's a Honda!! I would like to know who has the most miles on there bike on stuntlife.

Re: high mileage bikes

I once upon a time saw an old Southern Californian man with his red and white R1 on a sportbike website, and after close examination of its odometer I noticed it had over 140,000 miles.

Re: high mileage bikes

i actually saw an article in a motorcycle magazine...either Sport Rider or Motorcyclist called the "200,000 mile 929"...it came out in late '01 i think...
anyway..this guy basically made this bike into touring bike w/ saddlebags and all...it stated that he used castrol gtx 10w-30 energy conserving (ecv) the same oil i used, and still use in my truck...that's the oil that all the bike manufacturers say not to use...something b/c of the moly content i don't know...it also said that he changed it every 3000 miles, and changed his filter every 6000 miles...and he had 200,000miles and climbing....i'll never buy a non-honda montorcycle again!
