Anyone know what makes these different from a regular R6? WEre they sold here in the US or only in Europe?

to the best of my knowledge the only difference is the colors... but it is a sweet color scheme!

its just a different color.. technically it's not even a "special" edition.. just another color choice

Yup - just a limited colour - if you ask me they grow on trees.

I dont even know if the color is considered limited.. at both shops I worked at we had more of those than anything else

i think origanly they were gonna limit them then they just made it a color option

The 03 R6 is limited to the year 03 but they made a sh*t load. The old Champion Ed. is a true limited production only 1000 bikes made. The thing about this bike that sets it appart is it was built on a seprate assembly line, diferent paint sceeme and numbered. The 03 is a "special ed." just not a limited Ed. sweet bike I love the paint job hope they do somthing cool to the 04's.

does anybody know if Yamaha has any plans to do a special ed. or limited ed. in the next couple years? I know you cant even get the silver R1 till latter in the year only the blue and red. they got to keep us hangin.

So the speacial edition R6 is black and red? I've seen pictures of special edition R6's with a yellow/black paint scheme. Any of you ever seen em?

It is the paint scheme only. They made less of them than the blue or silver. I do not know the numbers but less.

Here is the Special Edition R6 - they also made the R1 like this for 2003 only. It was also the first year the r6 had fuel injection, ram air cooled, and liquid cooled. But that is for all the R6's. They also took the red and made it a color option for the 04's (no flames just the unique red).
