929 help please

i just got a 929 and it doesnt run too smooth. its been sitting for a year so the gas and oil that were in it were really old. when it started it up it sputters and it wont idle. you can ride it but if you give it too much gas it dies out. i just replaced the sparkplugs put new gas in changed the oil and filter and was wondering what else anyone can reccomend to do for a bike thats been sitting for a year. also i looked at the valves and the intake valve on the furthest left side of the bike has a buildup on it. none of the others have any buildup, not even the other intake valve for the same cylinder. ?????? any thoughts on this?

well, you replaced the plugs and all that and it still does that?

i would say get soem stuff called HEET from walmart and put it in the tank, even with new gas in it, it could still have moisture in the lines. If you can get it started, let it idle for a while and warm up before trying to give it some throttle, could just have some stuff to work through, like build up or varnish. Might be a good idea to try some injector cleaner too.

the only other thing i could think is maybe the exhaust valve is stuck closed so it's clogging up the exhaust causing it to die when you give it gas.

i havent tried to start it after i did the plugs and all that. its still in pices in my garage. the only part that i was really wondering about is the buildup on the one valve. its the one that gravity would feed any stuff to if it sat for a while but how do you get the bulildup off?

it's carbon, with that just being one it shouldn't affect it that bad, it should burn off when you run it.

You could take your injectors off and have 'em cleaned. Take 'em to a diesel injector shop and they can clean all 4 of them ultrasonically for about $80. these guys did mine http://www.mwfi.com/index.htm

if this was the case, it would set off a dummy light on the dash. and the exhaust would still have a way out, it would just be a bit restricted.

since you said you replaced all the obcious stuff, maybe the fuel filter. it's on the pump which is in the tank, so it sat in all that bad gas for a year. maybe its choking the fuel flow. let us know how it goes.

ya, but i was thinking he said it ran poorly, that would be the same effect as clogged exhaust, hence the reason i thought of it.
