fix a flat

i have the same tire that came out the showroom and my bike has 4500 miles on it now. my back tire is just starting to show threads in the rear and went completely flat. i hooked an air compressor up to it and found the hole. i can cover it with my finger and hold pressure in but if i let go its flat in a matter of seconds. the thing is that the hole is right in the center of the tire and really small. well to make this story to the point i got a fat *** 190 that im going to put on it but before i do i want to smoke up my old one on wednesday at bike night. how can i patch it up just long enough to roast that bad boy off? any help is greatly appreciated! peace.

Getting the bead to pop loose and then getting the tire off the rim can be a biotch if you are just trackside some place. Line up a trailer my friend.

Yeah, definately have a trailor when you're done. For fixing it, use a tubeless tire kit to seal up your lil hole. That should last ya if you take it easy on her the rest of the week. Watch the engine temps' on the burnout though, don't over-heat.

If blowing ya rear is gunna be the norm every time you run a hoop down to the canvas - Track down a second hand rear wheel and always have ya newbie rubber fitted.
Every time ya go for terminal smoke-Once the tyre has thrown it's load, just 'hoick' the new wheel complete with new boot, and swap 'em.
Ready to ride and stunt in a matter of minutes.
All ya need is someone to attend in four wheels to bring ya spare.

Good idear to get a few miles scrubbed off ya spare before stashing.

yeah, you aint gonna be able to swap the **** on the spot ..... getting the tire off the rim aint easy with tire irons, and then you need air to put back in it .... plus you gotta have like a 36mm socket for the rear axle, and you USUALLY need an air gun for that one .... aint worth the hastle ... be a pimp, and show up with a trailer

I can usually change my tire within 10 minutes start to finish.... but I have a bead breaker in my garage . Just to let you know though ususally when you pop a tire you will get belts coming off your tire that will tangle up in you swingarm and brake caliper. It's quite a job. Real messy - I'd line up a trailer. There is a place like 2 miles from my house that has burnout comps in the street every other Saturday and I haven't done it yet because of the trailer issue. Good Luck.
Also keep in mind even crappy tires sometimes can take FOREVER to pop, and overheating can be an issue. I've seen tires running belts take so long that bikes start shooting coolant out like a damn water fountain.

Sorry to jump in with a new question, but I'm just curious how hard it is to change a tire with just regular hand tools (meaning no bead breaker or the like)? My KZ needs a new front tire, and if I could do it myself that would be great, but I figured I was screwed without any tire equipment, especially a balancer.

Seeing as how I plan on riding a few wheelies out on the open road, and I tend to get up around 100 mph when I set it down sometimes, yeah, I balance my tires.

If I was going to be playing in a parking lot someplace... nah.
