protek frame sliders, just broke off after bike fell

Are frame sliders supposed to just break off? I bought protek frame sliders from "shugga" and put them on about 2 weeks ago. Well the other day, my friend laid my bike down at like 45mph. It mostly slid into the grass. When i looked at the bike, i noticed that the frame slider just broke off. Is that supposed to happen? How would they even help if they just break off that easily.

if it slid into the grass, then yea it'll just break off. The weight of the bike will push it into the dirt, which will either bend the bolt or just break it all together. Framesliders are made to slide on the pavement and wear down to absorb the energy of the bike sliding, on pavement. Not grass. No matter who you bought them from.

yeah ... the ZXs suck cause the frame sliders dont use a good bolt, just a thin fairing bolt ... the f4i (which is what I think it was on) is just like that too ... wouldnt even buy em. wont help at all ... get a cage!!!!!!

I drilled and tapped the holes bigger and put f4i sliders on mine with a 3/8 bolt, but that eventually broke the tabs themselves

unless you have a good aluminum welder, or dont wreck hard its a no win situation with the zx6/zx9

The same thing happened to me on a zx7r. Same Protek sliders. It was all on pavement, the **** just snapped in two. I stopped riding with protek after that. No other sliders gave me any ****, just those.

I broke 2 off my 900rr- the second one broke the threads out of the block on the right side, sliders work for slow falls but a nice fast one will break (or bend)any size bolt.

I have had that happen to some lockhart carbon sliers. One broke off my left side from a stoppie going to high and my triple twisted on the gsxr 1k. I laid it down b/c the wheel was all cocked and it broke the slider which dented my frame

It was on an f4i. The slider used an engine mount bolt. The bolt is fine, just the slider is gone.

How much do cages averagely cost? and where can i get one?

thanks,
sam
