Changing sprocket need help with chain link sizes!

Hey guys i have a 2003 zx6r with 15f 40r stock sizing. I currently bought new sprockets which are 15f 52r and was wondering if anyone can help me with how to figure out how many chain links are needed! Some local shops are just telling me to put it around the sprockets and just eye out an inch of plAy but that didnt sound right what do you guys think? Also can you guys let me know all the tools that are needed for a sprocket and chain instalment! Its a clip master link by the way thanks guys!

Re: Changing sprocket need help with chain link sizes!

4 more links will be real close to perfect. make sure you buy them of the same brand chain you already have, or the pins may be different sizes.

To "break" the chain the best tools to use are an angle grinder to grind the heads off the pins, and then a hammer and #3 flat heads screwdriver to pry the plate off.

To put the new link on you will want a chain press (a big C clamp works fine) and once the clip is on, put a day of jb weld on it, they have a tendency to fall off.
