How has a CBR 1000 & How fast have you had it?

I was reading on a gun owners forum today, and some random guy said he has had his CBR 1000 up to 190mph. He also claimed it would do well over that. I personally have been 176mph. on my GSXR 1000 and that was scary as ****. So in short who has one and how fast have you been. P.S. Please no bullshit just the truth.

Unless you are at the track or something, I think it's just too hard to stay on at speeds that high. It feels like you are being peeled off the bike no matter how low you get yourself. Maybe that's just me. I never had a 1000 up to 190 but easily 175.

bikes are governed at 186. well the ones capable of that anyway. and thats an indicated 186 and so you can minus about 5 to 10% off of that for speedo error. im pretty sure the 1000rr is capable of the 186.

Re: How has a CBR 1000 & How fast have you had it?

I have topped out my 06 Gixxer thou and the speedo says 187 i know i wasn't going that fast cuz they are always off even the new ones a little. More than likely if a guy brags about how fast he has gone he is a poser and prolly gets scared going over a houndred. i don't brag about how fast i've gone but when someone asks i say "my speedo said 187 but its not real accurate at that high of speed so i don't know". unless his **** is not stick he is full of ****!

According to the speed treaty in america any Liter bike brought to this county can only be allowed to go 186 before they completely shut off... and yea bikes speedo after a 100mph are off by 5-10%... if you get a speedohealer you can remove the gov. from the factor

hahah they dont shut off, they just wont go any faster. do you have any idea how dangerous it would be to shut off a vehicle at 186mph lol ppl would be dying left and right. and its not a "treaty" its simply a gentlemans agreement to keep lawmakers off their back. and wrong again, factory speedos are 5 to 10% off throughout the entire range not just after 100 mph. also using a speedo healer to defeat the 186 limit is sorta retarded cuz you wont know if you beat 186 because you have to trick it into indicating you are going slower. the way to beat it is either the TRE mod works for some bikes or a race ecu. ive also heard that on some of the gsxr's a powercommander can bypass it but not sure on that.

Like Neil said, gentleman's agreement between the manufacturers. It has absolutely nothing to do with America. It's a 300 KM/H limit. You think that would be an American rule?

Re: How has a CBR 1000 & How fast have you had it?

lol.. i've had a few bikes up there, speedo is always way off when reading 170+, i was on my 07 r6 keeping up with my buddy on his 03 r1 with my speedo saying 181.. he was barely pulling me by that time. just +2/-1 and him stock.

i've had an 08 1000RR up there and its not as hard as you would think to hold on around 160-180 (no traffic nor wind)

ive been up to 175 on my gsxr1000 05, maybe i could have pushed it a couple miles over that but its too crazy..everything comes to fast at ya!!!... the stock speedometer tho, has a 5% increase of what it actually is; so if ur doing a 100m/h ur probably more like around 95, but also if u make your rear sproket smaller it will give you more top end and the engine wont even know it (ur speedometer will be all wrong but u can fix it with the speedo healer chip) so you could pass even whatever the governor says, so its possible that he could have been doing 190, it probably just took him an hour to get up there..... about about being fine at that speed..i dont know its scary as **** for sho!!..he's probably just trying to look cool...

Again, more wisdom ...

I've personally seen some big numbers on Turbo Busa's, GSXR's, and ZX-14s... but as previously stated - the speedometers lie.

yeah and then i heard he got passed by a zx10 (with the same technology as the 250 kawi) doing 936 miles an hour.... i was like no ****!!!.. wich makes sense cuz if a 250 can do 234 a 1000 (4 times bigger or 3 times added to the 250 engine) can do 936...... do the math ...its awesome...

Re: How has a CBR 1000 & How fast have you had it?

I know in the zx-10's case it runs out of gear... My speedo stops reading at 186 and will continue another 2000 rpm or so. The speedo is off at those speeds (as already stated).
