When To Change Oil

I was just wondering if anyone knew when to change your oil depending how you ride youe bike. I try to change it between 2,000 and 3,000 miles. Is that to long? I ride my be pretty hard so should I change it earlier or does it matter. Thanks for your help.

personally i change mine about every 1000 miles. it seems a bit excessive to some people but at 14,000 mile of beating my bike i still have full compression and only 2% on the leak down test.

I thought about changing it about 1,500 miles so my bike will last longer. I use Castrol R4 Syn. to help out with the wear and tear of the engine.

I change mine every 2500. Remember sportbikes were designed for racing and speed and the manufacturers recomendations are probably figuring you are gonna beat the **** outta it. So 2000-3000 miles should be fine.

Thats what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. I thought about using Amsoil but I have to find a local dealer that carries it. Do you know how much t is a quart? I haven't had any problems with the clutch yet since I put the oil last Oct. before I had the new paint job done. I can feel a difference using syn. oil, thats why I thought about using it again on my next oil change, which is my goal to do this weekend. Thanks for all your info.

I change my oil about every 5,000 miles. I used to change it about every 3,000 or so, but my buddy headed off to MMI, and later told me that it is not necessary to change your oil before 5,000 miles, because the viscosity in oil will last 5,000 miles, no problem.

I just keep riding mine and every once in a while add some when it gets low. Changing oil and washing the bike take away from riding time and should be frowned upon.
