Problems with Parts Unlimited
Problems with Parts Unlimited
Now im not here to bad mouth P.U , I would just like to know if anyone else had the same thing happen to them. heres the dillie , My bike tipped over in a parking lot a few weeks back and broke my brake handle. Simple enough, orderd a new handle last week i got my new handle, when i installed it i went on just fine felt a little more sensitive then before, a very good thing, so while i was riding it down the street at around 60mph the bike started to dog, front end started to dive not shortly after that i went ankel over a$$hole when i got up and checked the bike the front brakes where locked up turns out that the pin in the master cylinder didnt have enough space to move when the fluid would expand from the heat of brakein and decided to seize the front calipers costing me a pipe frame slider THE BRAKE HANDLE! a front stay and plastics. i am in the works with trying to speek with a rep. from the company, i would just like to know if anyone else had a problem with such a thing?
would love some feedback thanks

Re: Problems with Parts Unlimited
well i know that, pu is a retailer. i dont know who the manufac. is thats what im waiting on the rep to get back to me if they ever do. im not upset with pu and im honstly not that pissed with the part, its a fluke just wanted to know if this has happend with anyone other then myself dont know if its a common thing with pu's suppliers
Re: Problems with Parts Unlimited
i believe someone makes it for them and then they put theyre name on it so that would make P.U. a responsible party. and no this problem is not a one time incident there is a thread on it around here somewhere.these levers are **** and i couldnt figure out why my brakes never felt right then i threw the lever from my 636 on and it was perfect
.i will always use oem now. i think if they are not aware of the problem they should be cause it could be a serious problem. and if it was me i would really try and get them to pay for it
good luck and sorry about your problems.

well i guess i got what i paid for then, when your low on cash half the time you kinda got to go for the cheeper parts 65 for an oem over a 20 for aftermarket. i still think that if someone is going to make a part cheeper it sould not be becasue of the lack of craftmenship especialy when it comes to somthing like your brakes i mean i can see if the seat cover has a thinner pad or somthing stupid like that but not with somthing thats going to kill you if it dont work right.
Re: Problems with Parts Unlimited
not really on-topic, but Part Unlimited was just sued over a **** claim brough up by 2 douche bags and cost PA $42 million.
I'd let PA know about your situation, and then contact the manufaturer of the handle.
