636, exhaust can glowing red orange?
636, exhaust can glowing red orange?
My friend has been letting me ride his 636 for a lil while now
Last night I went out and rode the streets, mostly highway, nothing slow because his rear brake line was broke....
Anyways, I was over 10k most every wheelie for miles... Before I went home I rode about 3 miles without doing 1 wheelie, just slow rpm cruisin
I get home, park it, get off and notice the inside the can is red/orange hot....
Its just glowing in the dark.. I look at the headers and they weren't orange, and the bikes temp was only 195...
Also i'v noticed every time when I get done riding and park the bike, the exhaust can just makes loud TICK sounds probably from it cooling off and shrinking.. but goddamn!
Is this normal?
edit: I can shut my f4i off at 225 and the can doesn't glow orange... then again its an aftermarket can

yea i do dont know about towileee, ive always wondered that noise but it doesn't bother me, someone said it was the packing inside burning up, they said all do that, i guess
Re: 636, exhaust can glowing red orange?
I know it seams backwards but a bike that is jetted lean has hotter exhaust temps....and the manufacturers make the bike pretty lean from the factory...and I know some bikes have a catalist....and yes these have to get real hot to convert harmful gasses to not so harmful gasses...it wouldnt suprise me that the baffle was glowing...and its not really anything to get worried about...my dirtbike header gets so bright it will light up everything around it.....
Re: 636, exhaust can glowing red orange?
The ticking/cracking is when the metal of the exhaust is cooling down and shrinking because of the change of temperature.
That the slip-on part of the muffler is glowing is strange if the header aren't glowing as they're closer to the combustion chamber and should be way hotter. Maybe Kawasaki used different materials and the header is just more heat resistant.
