I would never buy a bike to "ride" on e-bay. Now buying a bike "for parts" is a different story. I don't trust it. You don't know what you're getting. You could've just bought a bike that was sitting at the bottom of some lake last week. Some one found it, rebuilt it, made it run good and selling it as "Selling my bike, it's mint, LOOK!!!" Thats just it, you can only look, not "feel" or even a test ride. And on e-bay, if you bought it, it's yours, no returns!

Did I tell you I hate E-Bay???

You have to know how to use ebay first. There are things you can do in order to make sure the item you are bidding on is not some piece of ****. Me and nags have been on ebay since the beginning and know where to spot the deals.

Hell even at my work where I am in the maganer of information systems, we pick tons of tech stuff from ebay. routers, switches, yaddah and have been for years and never had a problem.

Nags has bought 2 bikes from ebay and didn't have a problem.

How do you know the bike you bought from some guy in the cycle trader wasn't on the bottom of a lake a month ago? You don't.

YEAH, I KNOW, WE BUY STUFF OFF THERE ALL DAY LONG. THE SMALL STUFF LIKE YOU SAID, RIMS, ROTORS, PEGS, CLIP-ONS, YADDA, YADDA, YADDA. I JUST DONT TRUST SOMETHING LIKE THAT WHEN I'M ABOUT TO SPEND $5,OOO OR SO FOR WHATEVER. I DON'T LIKE CYCLE-TRADER EITHER. HELL, I DONT LIKE ORDERING STUFF THROUGH THE MAIL!!! I'D RATHER GO AND GET IT, SEE WHAT I'M GETTING, FEEL WHAT I'M GETTING AND BRING IT HOME.

THATS JUST THE WAY I FEEL, GO AHEAD AND GET BURNED BIG ONCE, YOU'LL SEE!!!!

I bought this bike on ebay 2 yrs ago for $5000- Back when 900rr's were bringing from 6500- 7500. I have never had a problem with ebay, you just need to be carefull- There is some junk out there so look at the pics carefully and ask tons of questions. If you have any doubt follow your intution and keep looking.

I've purchased 3 different bikes off of ebay, the first two I met the guy and rode it and then paid him after I was satisfied with the bike. Ite second bike I re-sold onto ebay, had no problems. I purchased an 2000 RC51 off of ebay about a month ago from a guy in Oregon. Talked with him on the phone multiple times, he sent detailed pictures and had a maintenance history for the bike. This was the first time I ever bought the bike without seeing it beforehand. Had it shipped through forward air, no problems at all. Got a great bike for a great deal every time. Never had any problems. Just my experience...

Got my 2001 929 off Ebay. Never had any problems at all. Just be careful and don't be afraid to ask ALOT of questions. If the seller has a problem with that, then f#ck him and take your money elsewhere. Good luck
