Build it or buy it?
Build it or buy it?
well, the gixxer is trashed and getting parted out so time for an f4i. problem is on ebay and craigslist people are on crack and are asking 4-6 grand for them in mint condition. maybe i should build one?
fact is to turn a mint bike into a stuntbike alot **** is gonna get modified anyways, so whynot just buy the frame, motor, and get fairings from a friend so i can have a stuntbike for under 2500 bucks?

Re: Build it or buy it?
I doubt you could build a complete f4i for $2500.. Now maybe fixing up a wrecked one its possible..
Just think.. A clean title frame is usually around $1500, or around $1200 for a salvage title..
Engine + fuel injection + wireingharness and ecu = at least $400, probably more like $600-$1000..
Forks, gonna spend at least $100, if not $200-$300...
Front brake rotors, I picked up a used set for $250 shipped...
Your already looking at $2500ish, and you still don't have wheels, sprockets, swingarm, rear shock, clip-on's, kick stand, wheel spacers, rear rotor, calipers, master cylinders, rear sets, foot pegs, seats, gas tank, plastics, fuel pump, gauges if you want em.. And not to mention you'd have to find every signle bolt/screw to assemble it all..
Or you could look around town, and probably find one with shitty plastics for less then $3,000... Or one in 'minty' condition for around $4,000.
I spent $3500 on mine.. It had 14k miles and had been looped out and had the plastics replaced, but only spray painted..

Re: Build it or buy it?
craigslist and ebay arent the place to look for f4i's
the classifieds on susa is. people sell em here too, but the classifieds here are annoying
btw, you'd still need to get:
cage $250
hb setup $150
chain/sprocket $150
stuntex $60
if you buy one that isnt already a stuntbike

Re: Build it or buy it?
There is a f4i on stunt usa for $1800 no title. Get a frame and salvage title for $500 and you have a straight bike. http://www.stuntusa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28362

Re: Build it or buy it?
don't you realise that once you drive anything off the lot it depreciates in value.
You could buy a brand new F4i for $8000 CASH and 1 hr later theyd only give you $6000 for it.
Plus there talking about wrecked/stunt bikes
I personally would buy something but It'd be a cool learning project to peice something together.

yeah you gotta point there, and not to mention the shipping on all these parts. i did a quick little shopping spree on ebay and came up with 3500 as a roundabout figure. all stunted out will kick things up to 4200....
what a buncha bullshit, why cant the world just work the way i want it to
