I got a zx6r when I was 15 and my mom was cool about it because I had been riding motocross my whole life and she knew that I was a good rider. After all the stupid crap that I did on the street when I was young there is no way I would ever let my kid have a street bike.

I just turned 17 and fixed me up an 01 R6 , Before that i had a 95 katana 600 that i got when i was 15 , just get a shitty peice (like a katana) for like 1000 and bring it home and see what they say.

I just saved up cash and bought one, then after getting my full license i told them and they were cool with it, and they dont care as long as i call them to tell them where im going and keep in touch during a ride so they know im safe. I dont live at home but still do call when i ride to give my parents a peace of mind, after all they are your parents.

yea dude i feel ur pain... my step dad hates bikes and all my friends with there fast cars.... i drove a civic for a year when i was 16 then i turned 17 and i ahd to sell my car to pay off tickets...and my mom got sick of my beggin her for gas money so as soon as i told her bout the gas milage she was like fine get one... and i bought a f4i that same day... now i hit wheelies down the street all the time( for the cute neighbor chick) and my mom thinks its awsome

When i talked about getting mine a little while back my dad warmed up to it pretty quick but my mom was really worried about it. Dont let them see stunting stuff or wrecks cause that will make them even more concerned. My mom always said that she didnt want me to get hurt, so i would tell her that im not looking to get hurt either. You can also tell them about the protective gear that you'll be wearing (whether you plan on wearing it or not). And like some other people have said, it helps if you have friends that ride. After a little while of actually riding on the street parents seem to just get used to it and not worry as much. Good luck.

save your money, be responcible, show them you want it, and your willing to do whatever it takes... and by that time, if you havent talked them into it.. you'll have the money to do it anyway.

I just up and baught a beater when I started riding 3 or 4 years ago..... I just got something that was slow and crappy enough to not let me kill myself and prove my parents right.... after a few years I moved up to the CBR 600

I guess I got lucky I told my parnets that I was thinkin about trying to get a bike and they sed if I got one than they would buy me a helmit so that I wouldnt have any excuses for not wearing one but they have always let me make my own decisions

just do like i did,go buy it, and bring it home then my parents ask me to go back and get life insurance haha. Start out cheap that way if they say you cant keep it you not out much. Have you even checked on insurance? Some places wont insure you being so young on a bike

ya i bought a cheap beater as my first bike for a grand. it didnt look like it could do **** but it didnt take long to figure out how to get it up. then i upgraded to a full on sport bike once i had some miles under my belt. bout 10,000 on my beater.

Yeah man that def sucks. I bought a bike and my parents didnt wanna speak to me for a while. My mom would call me crying...great fun. Then they were a lil ok wit it till i wrecked and i told them im still gonna fckin ride me baby...now they r cuttin me off money wise and tryin to get me to crack under pressure. It aint gonna happen. Ill get a second job if i gots to. Word to the wise tho, def save up ur money and buy the bike out right instead of financing (cant wait to b done payin this off). But just buy it and b carefull. By the way u still got ur 50? Im lookin to get one this summer and start rockin the lil bikes. How easy is it to pull her up or do u have to change the gears and what not?
