Same price 954 or 1000RR should I really get the 954?

I have found a 02 954 and a 04 1000RR both about the same miage and shape for around $5500 should I really buy the older 954 instead of the 1000RR, I am looking for a whooolie machine.

TIA, Zach

First off, how many bikes have you ridden? Second, if you are looking for a "whoolie" machine then you are already paying to much if you are even considering the "$5500" range. Don't ever spend more than $3k for a stunt bike, and if it's a minty bike then keep it that way. Unless you are a pro rider who can spend $6k on minty bikes and keep it that. (That is if they even paid $6k for their bikes)

Thanks for the concern, but yes I have wheelied my buddies 02 Ninja 900 and my other freinds 929, hense why this green blooded boy is looking for a red bike.

I am not going to plan on entering stunt compatitions, and I painted the zx-9 this spring after he dumped it. I also weld and can't wait to fab my own bars!!!

You have wheelied which means the front tire came off the ground all of 3 inches. Don't buy the 1000!

I think he meant he attempted to wheelie the Ninja, and once he road a Honda he realized why people love Hondas, thus him changing from Kawasuki to Honda!

Either way though, he's still a squidly at this point and shouldn't even attempt getting a 1000RR

they r all right...dont by the 1000 for a stunt bike. i bought one n was foolin round on it tryin some slow stuff n it bit me in my ars n replacement parts on them r expensive as hell since they r new. ur better off wit a used f4i for under 3k to stunt since after it hits the ground it aint gona b worth much anyways

I have been racing motorcross for 12 years now you think you need control rididing a wheelie on the street?

Try clearing a sixty foot triple with two other guys in the air right beside you, in my sport I see squids go to the ER every race day.

I had bought a zx-7 new in 94' but sold it in 96' since it couldn't power wheelie and I got too many tickets on it.

If you re-read my post I said I have riden wheelies (about 3 foot off the ground) all the way thru 1st (I know not near bp, but not 3 inches either). on the 02'zx-9 and 01 929 I just like the way the 929 wheelies way better.

I have a 69 Chevelle that I bracket race in the 10.10's am I not ready for that either??? I have been drag racing it for years now.

Amen.

And what does bracket racing and chevelles have to do with anything? Dude, quit trying to lay your life out there and make yourself look cool. Jumping dirtbikes and riding wheelies are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT worlds. A 1000RR won't suit you, a 929 will. I learned almost everything on a 929, and it was the best bike in the world to me.

Again, my suggestion... you are still chasing balance point and you'll be doing that for a while. Trust me and half the other stunters on here that know what they are talking about, you don't want the 1000RR as a beginning stunt bike. 929 is what you want, but again... a 929 at $5500 is a minty bike. If you want to stunt, find a 929 for around $3K and bust that up. Don't waste your money.

Any of this sink in?

i just bought a '03 954 and its a monster, i cant say ive ridden the 1000 but hell from just riding around on it for a few weeks its great. I did foul the plugs tho... and it wasnt fun changing them, then once i got them changed the batt was dead. It was an interesting afternoon, but still runs like a beast .

i consider myself a decent rider and gettin new **** daily, i have been stuntin for a year and riddin wheelies for like 2,

the cbr1000rr which i own, owns me...i can barealy slow them into the 20s with stock gearing and i have no problems doin that on a f4i

as far as 929/54 they feel way more natural when wheelied, but seriously start wit a 600 man

they will do what u want and are more forgiving for learning

amen! even power wheelies 3ft above the ground are gay! get a 600.... learn the clutch.... DONT sprocket it till you can rock em slow STOCK... i like everyone here was once squidtastic.... we've been there. i had 4 different r1's before i started stunting... switched to a 929 caus i THOUGHT i needed a liter bike to stunt... WRONG i was!!! got my first f4i and got the clutch thing on and bp on lock.... thought i needed a 60 tooth sprocket to learn to rock it slow.... WRONG again! SLOWLY started learning caus i was using engine brake.... switched back to a stock sprocket learned rear brake and i started progressin like there was no tomorrow.... i'm tellin you dude... get a 600 and i PROMISE you'll thank all of us tellin you to get one

i think racing moto x does help. you already know you are going to have to commit and you understand risk. you have had to make that leap of faith jumping a jump for the first time.it is alot like dropping in for the first time. you just go for it and deal with what happens i raced moto x for a while and i think it translates . ps 929s and 954s are awsome stoppie bikes and def awsome street wheelie machines

Re: Same price 954 or 1000RR should I really get the 954?

Thanks all. I wasn't trying to write a biography I just got pissy about the squidly comment. I think I am going to get both a $1500 or less 600 for wrecking and a 954 for street riding, but not practicing on.

I have been riding my KX 250 daily and working on the back brake wheelie thing. I am getting real close to BP on it but when I use the back brake at all it kills my (jump)when I clutch launch the wheelie.

When do I hit the back brake? When I think I am going to go over? Or do I ride the back brake the entire time and just give it more gas?

Practicing in my buddies gassy pasture is great with the mx gear on I am not so afraid of looping the bike. I have looped a MX bike before just never sobber.

Again thanks for all the advice even though I got my guard up. I have to do something with this $$$ I work my *** off for otherwise I will have to trade my POS daily driver Civic in on something nicer like my wife wants me to.
