no thread on engine mount! how to attach sliders?

I crashed 3 times today while practicing different new tricks, and the third time my extended frame slider got teared off the mount, so now there's no more thread inside the engine mount to bolt another sliders. how can I fix that?? the mount is not broken though. should I re-thread it with helicoil, or just weld it in some manner???

helicoil it if you can in some aplcations thats stronger than stock. You can hog it out a re-tap it. either way.

This is a problem with the really long sliders that no one likes to think about. It might keep more of the bike off the ground, but the added leverage against it puts a lot more stress on it making it more likely to rip right out of the frame.

Anyway, you might try a helicoil or something. I dunno.

I've seen this problem a lot of bikes with extended sliders. I've never seen it on a bike with regular sliders. If you know your bike is gonna get nasty, why get the extended ones to keep more of the plastic off the ground? I'm not trying to make an example out of you or anything, just a reference for others.

my plastics are already scratched, I use extended sliders to protect my covers, until I get enough $ to buy NRC covers or a cage

Definitely heli-coil it. It'll be stronger than stock.

dude, after you explode enough engines, the 20 bucks for a helicoil kit doesn't seem like a bad trade off for keeping your motor safe.

hey guys, here is something me and my friends use to save engine covers. It's an industrial 2 part epoxy like stuff called devcon. They use it in factorys for various things. My friend that races 600cc has destroyed his bike in crashes twice and has yet to hurt an engine cover. You just mix this stuff togehter and put it on your engine covers nad it's hard as hell. He let me beat on his engine cover with an 8lb sledge to prove to me that it's strong and will work for my stunt bike.

if you know a friend working at a factroy, try to get some of this stuff...it's awsome
