Running hot
#6
if i leave my bike sit and idle it'll get to 226 then the fan turnes on. its normal. and when i compare it to the other bikes i ride with it always seems to be running hotter. try to give me a better example like 70 degrees in traffic after running for 5 minutes its at 200. and ill let you know what im running.

Well the reason is obvious and normal: bikes don't have the cooling capabilities that cars do so they MUST be moving to keep cool. Any bike, even water cooled bikes, will do this. I don't even know how air cooled bikes survive in traffic.
So, basically, normal. Don't let your bike sit and idle for a long time. If it starts creeping up to where the fans kick on, park the bike with the motor off but the key turned on so that the fan keeps running.. or start lane splitting and cool that sucker down.
Avoid temperatures exceeding 235-240* F -- you start running the risk of a very bad thing called head warpage. Not cool if you don't want to be replacing your cylinder head.
