RC51 vs 900RR

If anyone has driven and RC51 could you tell me your thoughts on the differences between that and a 99' 900RR i've been trying to sell mine and a dealer is willing to give me a good deal for trading it in on a RC51 just wondering if i'd like it or not

Re: RC51 vs 900RR

Get the rc51, pimp factor is high, both are heavy *** bikes, they both are about as fast as each other, the rc51 will handle a little better and have more bottom end and you'll get more *****es on the 51, my boy has one with sato full exhaust, loud as ****, that thing gets so many looks it make me jealous. Performance wise the bike is nothing great though, i've ridden my buddys on several occasions and it's not really that fast, any 750 or literbike will lay you out.

Re: RC51 vs 900RR

The seats are a bit Hard no back seat if your two up. the radiators are in a shitty place they all run over 220's but the Vtwin is tourqie and the bike is nimble as hell......very good bikew/ some minor flaws but they Rumble.

it takes a different creed of person to ride a big twin.its not as forgiving as a small inline bike.POSERS need not apply!!!!!

Not really, i ripped that thing apart when my 929 was stock. Both from slow rolls and stop, never got ahead of me at any point, it was pretty even in first til i'd hit 6-7 then i'd start pulling, thing kept up pretty good in first but got walked after that. You have to remember they only have 10k rpm to work with, while 4's have anywhere 12-14. They both go about the same speed in first, so they have to use taller gearing which negates the effect of the increased lowend. It's just that when you're riding them you just don't have to run them as high in the revs to take off, i like to cruise at 6k, on that thing you can take off at 3500, powerband is much more flat. They do have backseats too, they have a cowl that pops off where the trunk is and a seat that goes in it's place. On another note if you do get one, go through and loctite all the fairing bolts first thing, things drop them like crazy.

And who would blame you Hardly anyone in this area can take a turn that's not on the Expressways Sorry, just had to take a cheap shot at all of the Michigan riders, because we all know how most the roads are around here, CRAP!!!!!

Re: RC51 vs 900RR

Another popular misconception, twins have less rotational intertia which make turning in an easier thing, a lot of people think they have better handling but they don't. Twins turn in easier and stay in a corner with less effort but i wouldn't call an rc a great handling bike compared to any new 600/750/1000 Go ride one and you'll understand, the things are heavy, like i said before any liter bike or 750 will wip it, straight line or corner. The things are just fun street bikes, lots of torque, bad *** exhaust note, and look unique. I'd consider getting one if they finally did a redesign one of these years.

Re: RC51 vs 900RR

One of my buddies rode one and told me the RC-51 takes more skill to be able to use it to its full potential compared to an inline four.

Re: RC51 vs 900RR

RC51 are sick bikes dude sound nice smooth wheelies sux for endos though kind of heavy and it will keep up with anything out there Iv played with them alot they dont rev as high as an inline but the torque is great. Its all prefrence you might never want an inline again ,but again you might hate it . ME i have a TLR1000 But the RC51 is next
