02 954 vs 04 GSXR 750

Anybody else ridden both?

So far, I like the down low power of the RR bike, but there's a few areas where it is sorely lacking in comparison to the Gixxer

1. Brakes. Brakes on the Gixxer were surgical, on the 954 not so much

2. Transmission. Shifting on the Gixxer was crisp and clean, on the 954 not so much. Especially downshifting. I have to let the clutch part way out to get it to downshift most of the time.

3. Fit and Finish. This suprised me most of all. Thought the Honda would be closer in this category, even with two model years difference.

4. THE SEAT ON THE 954RR IS A FVCKING BOARD

Ridden both........... Track days at Putnum roadcoarse. I didn't like the 954 mutch but then again my bike was the gsxr1000 so the 750 worked better for me. I love the blade for a track bike. Everything I hear about the Honda said
it's a better stunt bike though. the gixxers just inspire confidence in the twisties. **** you can turn them in sooo late it's rediculous.

I can't comment on the GSXR, but I cannot believe that you didn't like the brakes on the 954. I've ridden several 954's, and spent about 2,000 miles on one particular 954, and I think the brakes are amazing! They require such a light touch, I'd even be inclined to say that they're too powerful. Not having ridden the GSXR, I can't say that they're not up to par, but those damn 954 brakes were super strong. I was so impressed that I bolted a complete 954 front end onto my 900RR just for the brakes.

OK, maybe I just need to change the pads then... the bike had a leaky fork seal when I got it, I'll bet some oil made it down into the pad.

I did some digging around online, and I've seen several reviews on the Corbin seat saying that it isn't any softer than the stocker. Has anybody here tried a Sargeant seat?

Thanks for the feedback

I think overall I like the Gixxer better, more comfortable seat better ergos..throttle seemed a little smoother, and the one I rode is an '05, came with a stock steering stabilizer (which isn't the best by far, but better than nothing)...but maybe that's cause I decided to sell my RR and get one....a buddy of mine has an 02 954 and he loves it....they're both great bikes, I guess it's just a personal prefrence thing

Re: 02 954 vs 04 GSXR 750

Still having a VERY difficult time getting this bike clutched up in 2nd. I can get my buddies 01 GSXR 750 up no problem in 2nd, but my bike just won't seem to do it. Do I need to slip it more on the way out?
