Bigger Tire Size

Will it hurt anything changing the tire size from a 180 to a 190 on a 04 GSX-R750? I went to the bike shop to get a new tire and came back and the dude put a 190 on my rear. I was like what the f&ck , he said that it will not hurt anything it is only 10 cm. Now my bike sits higher and is putting a lot of pressure on my hands. I am just asking will the bigger tire mess something up?

Re: Bigger Tire Size

if you hit turns low enough to drag knee there is a huge difference, but for wheelies I like them better

Re: Bigger Tire Size

Personally I think the 190 is WAY more stable in the turn, but your definatly not going to get as low as quick as you will with a 180.

Re: Bigger Tire Size

180 is an all around better set up fot twisties and for stunt, on a 180 it has more rubber on the sides for getting low. its good for circles and such

but this is comming from a guy who gets his tires from the back of shops out of the tire pile, so i use what ever i get

Re: Bigger Tire Size

190 won't hurt a thing. You may notice a difference though! A small difference!

Re: Bigger Tire Size

I doubt there is that much of a difference to make your hands hurt. Its all in your head

Re: Bigger Tire Size

The tire size shouldn't have an impact on your hands hurting. I dont really know for stunting, but for twisties a 190 in my opinion is the way to go.

Re: Bigger Tire Size

my bad guys, the tire don't make the bike sit any higher than stock. It just makes it sit higher than a bald/old tire . I must have gotten used to ridding dirty

Re: Bigger Tire Size

I bumped from a 160 stocker to a 180 on mine. Kinda of a pain in the *** checking the clearance between the chain and swingarm, but i prefer it much more riding around. Just that much more tire to roll around on.

Re: Bigger Tire Size

a 180 is 10x's betters for twisties and actually better for stuntin.. turn in is much better and for stunts u have more of a contact patch

180/190 is the width of the tire

picture this

what would u rather ride with

(excuse the crappy ps)

same rim size

Re: Bigger Tire Size

those "drawings", if you want to call them that, are a terrible representation of the difference between a 180 width and a 190 width. you just made one round and one pointy. the size difference would be left to right in your pictures not up and down as you show it. there is a VERY small difference. didnt know we had so many scientists on the site.

1st off im not an artist .. did you not read the "excuse the photoshop" quote
2nd your wrong.. when u squueze a wider(190) tirer on the same size rim as a narrower(180) tire it bubbles or bulges the bigger tire

it was a rough sketch to get the idea across..

dont u have a field to graze
